Masayo, our tour guide, led us around Old Takayama with ease. Her English was strong and she gave us great detail of this part of town. Her friendly style ensured we had a great time even with the intermittent rain. The four of us adults and 7 month old were entertained, we learned a lot about the Hida district and... More

Went here to rent two bikes and without asking they wanted to give us small wheeled city bikes, to go into the mountains, for around 20 USD each. Only after asking we got mountain bikes for 50 USD in total. Not that it were top quality bikes to make up for the price. Anyway, we wanted to go, so paid... More

We had been booked to do a cycling tour of the Hida Furukawa area. Due to the edge of a typhoon coming through the heavens opened and cycling was out of the question. Instead we took part in a fascinating walking tour of the town, a rice factory, a traditional candle maker, saki brewery, and the festival museum which was... More

What a great way to see Takayama! Shinji was great and made sure our kids were able to handle the different roads and trails. We also enjoyed a nice stop for tea along the way.

We enjoyed an amazing day cycling round Takayama with our delightful guide Tatsu. He really had thought of everything. He brought a number of interesting props with him to illustrate the tour, as well as some delicious tea and biscuits. It was one of our favourite experiences on our holiday in Japan. He also recommended a wonderful cafe for lunch... More

This walking and food tour combination is a wonderful way to experience the beautiful town of Takayama and its culture. We walked through the historic area stopping at significant shops to learn about their food and history. We also went to the "morning market" and had additional tastings there. We are a family of 5 and the tour had 2... More

We joined a half day biketour through the ricefields with our guide Tatsu. The biketour was relatively short and for people like us who are used to bike, it is not much of an effort. However it is a very nice way to see and learn something about the countryside and Tatsu was a wonderful guide who told us so... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to join the Standard Cycling tour with Satoyama Experience during our trip to Takayama. It was a great way to see the country and learn more about the area and the people that live there. Our guide, Hisa, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He also gave us tips about festivals in the area... More

Our tour with Tatsu was one of the highlights of our two weeks in Japan. We loved to opportunity to learn more about the region and witness the beauty of the countryside. We did the standard tour, and it was an easy paced ride with many breaks along the way to learn, enjoy freshly brewed tea, and fill our water... More

The cycle tour through the rice fields with Hisa as our guide was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. We booked the afternoon tour and although it was very hot (middle of August) we had a great day. On the way there was enough shade and wind. And because of Hisa we stopped at the right locations...
