Excellent family cycling trip with interesting stories on what we saw on the way. Beautiful scenery, easy to do unless you never sport at all, for which I recommend this is a good start. The trip follows the river, rice paddies, local market, shrines and ends in the local town. Views on scenic mountains.

We had a bike tour arranged by our travel agent as part of our itinerary. Our younger daughter who is not a very experienced rider was nervous but a combination of Tatsu's great guiding and the beautifully quite roads made this one of the highlights of our trip. The area is flat, with very little traffic. Tatsu explained some of... More

We have enjoyed our lovely biketrip in very beautiful scenery! Tatsu is a great guide! A must-do on your trip in Japan! We were invited in a traditional home and Tatsu revealed the secret of the koi's... A special treat.

We went to Japan in July - right in the middle of the start of their summer with so many crowds. What a treat to "discover" Hida Furukawa and take a bike trip through the valley and into the mountains. Our guide Hiro shared his knowledge and love of the region with us - introducing us to local farmers, villagers... More

I went on two walking tours with Satoyama Experience, one in Takayama & the other in Furukawa. On the former tour I learned a lot about the production of tofu & sake, a food & a beverage entwined in Japanese culture; on the latter I learned a lot about housing architecture, Shinto shrines & Bhuddist temples. Each tour even included... More

A very memorable, family cycle ride with Tatsu, our friendly, fascinating and funny guide. Well worth an afternoon excursion from Tatayama to explore a less touristy side of Japan. Very pleased we added on an hour or two to walk around the old streets and canals of Furakawa.

We were delighted with the morning tour around the beautiful and charming old town. We were treated to information and tofu tasting, visiting a sake brewery and learning about making sake and of course tasting! We loved the local markets, chatting with the locals and trying their food, coffee and treats. Massayo was our wonderfully informative, friendly and helpful guide... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our half day bike tour with our fantastic guide Tatsu. We learned lots about culture and farming in the local area. Tatsu is super friendly, very knowledgeable, speaks excellent English and is passionate about the Hida-Furukawa area. The tour was very interesting, with all of us (two primary school aged kids and adults) listening attentively to every... More

Hida itself is a beautiful little city, and the afternoon cycling tour of a little under 4 hours through the countryside was really nice with only two small uphill parts, otherwise flat or downhill. Very nice and informative guide, so overall a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.

I had a great time on my tour with Tatsu! We rode for 3.5 hours through rural areas, stopping at a natural spring well, rice fields, a produce market, and several nice viewpoints. It was so nice to have Tatsu explain how rice is grown and harvested, how it's turned into sake, and all of the different local vegetables I... More
