This museum was opened in 1934, apparently the oldest and largest museum in Zambia. There are different sections in this museum, natural history, history, culture archaeology and last but not least the David Livingstone section.

Good information about the history of Livingstone, and the area. I was especially impressed with the room about David Livingstone and his contributions.
It is a bit deceiving because we spent about 1.5 hours at this museum and could have easily spent more.
It is not air conditioned, but was very comfortable on a 90 degree day.
The museum is well labeled and defined, so no need for a tour.
It was priced well.

I had time to spare before our departure and wanted to know more about David Livingstone than the one we’ll known quote! It was very cheap to go in but I found the first couple of exhibitions quite dull and no different to other museums all over the world. I began to wonder if I was going to find anything about Mr Livingstone and then I found his exhibition and was able to learn a lot more about him than I knew. The ‘our family’ display was good as was the closing exhibition of the development of Zambia, so as is normally the case, some parts of the museum were interesting to me, some weren’t.

This nice museum covers not just the life of David Livingstone, but also the history of human life on earth, with incredible fossils that have been recovered in Zambia. There is so much history here, right up to modern times. Students of Zambian history will really love this museum. It is also worthwhile to look at some of David Livingstone's original letters, which are protected under glass, but available for all to see and read.

The curio shop is also nice, because the prices are very reasonable.

We enjoyed our visit to the museum a most enjoyable morning. The Museum follows the start of African culture right up to the present day with good and well-presented exhibitions.

One room is entirely devoted to Dr David Livingstone and was very interesting as he discovered and named Victoria Falls after Queen Victoria and the town and the museum was named after him.

Great museum with friendly staff recommend a visit if you're in Livingstone

Because we had extra one hour, decided to visti this museum and it was well worth it. Exhibition is quite versatile and there are many quite unique relics to see. If you have time, I recommend to visit here as you get better view not only to Mr. Livingstone itself, but to Zambian and partly to African history.

Totally enjoyed visiting the museum in Livingstone during my resent visit to Zambia. I loved the flow of the museum from the moment i stepped in..it really talked about everything..from the early days even up to the recent times.
I enjoyed reading some letters from David Livingstone himself...The museum also gave you a general overview of life in livingstone...both rural and modern..
I loved the animal displays ...it was so real at a point i kept staring back wondering if one of them didnt just wink at me..lol
Overall it was worth the visit and i would recommend it to anyone visiting Livingstone as a must visit.

We used a guide to get through the museum. There was much information about Livingstone that we didn't know, including that he married a woman named Mary (daughter of a missionary) who looked like a man. Many of the exhibits looked amateurish but they did the best they could. Hopefully it will be better some day. I tipped the guide 10 and he looked so unhappy with it that I doubled it to 20.
