Please note that the railway museum is located on the site of the old railway station and is only open during the months of April to September. The railway station as such, last saw a passenger train in 1979 although it is still a very...More

If you like historical locomotives and train cars, you will enjoy this museum. While there are signs describing each engine and car, there could be a bit more general information to guide the viewer. The adjoining Museum of the history of Jewish settlement in Zambia...More

For a region with such a rich railway history this was super disappointing and mostly a sawmill railway history. The exhibits are in poor condition mostly.

A large collection of Steam engines and also some of the rolling stock. None of the engines that we saw were in working condition, but was still interesting to climb around on them and see the historical up to the 50's engines. There is also...More

This is really a visit for a railway buff, as if is mainly a collection of 'depleted' locomotives. There is a Rhodesian Railways coach probably dating to the 1950s, which you can enter. The highlight is to see the 3 Bayer-Garretts locomotives. You don't need...More

The night time train ride was awesome on an old restored train. Real sophistication. Great meal with silver service. The owner gave a detailed history of Zambia sprinkled with anecdotes . There is an old train museum-ok and a Jewish History Museum.

15 steam locomotives parked outside in fairly poor condition with many parts removed (stolen for scrap?) Most of the brass footplate fittings were missing. It's more like a scrap yard with elephant poo rather than a museum. To be fair I am a railway enthusiast...More

Take the time to visit this attraction. They have an incredible collection of old locomotives from yesteryear. Well worth the walkabout. One is able climb about and gain a real appreciation of these relics.

Museums are usually closed on Sunday's in Zambia so I would suggest any other day for a tour.
