We went to the Mukuni Village by taxi. A lovely lady met us at the curio market. Explained that she could take us on a village tour. We bought some handicrafts from the varios stalls, everyone was very friendly. We went on a tour, about 40 mins, where our guide explained in detail the life in the village. We were shown several of the rondavels where they lived. The village was definitely worth a visit and we enjoyed hearing the information about Zambian village life.

The standard items in this market (simple wooden animals, black painted bowls) are less expensive than anything in Zimbabwe, where you will find more colorful wares, but you should still haggle. Cut the initial offer in half *at least.* One vendor quoted a price for something I had bought elsewhere in Zambia (I just wanted to see what he would start with) and was *four times* the final price I paid elsewhere. I get that it is a tourist town and will be more expensive but most of the items are standard curios, probably all sourced from the exact same place, and your path will literally be blocked by vendors as you try to walk the market. Agreed with the other reviewer on #44, Augustine though. He was not aggressive and had some really great pieces.

Free parking nearby. There is a line of permanent shops/stalls with a covered walkway. They mainly sell all the usual stuff, animal carvings, pictures, bowls, baskets as souvenirs. A lot of them are largely the same and there is the usual "pressure" or "pitch" from the stall holders to buy from them. If you want a souvenir then you're very likely to find something here. The shops are numbered. We started at number 1 and was wearing a bit thin and then arrived at number 44! No pressure from the stall holder who was sat actually painting his own paintings! His name is Augustine Sikambala and he has talent. His pictures are clearly a cut above the others. We bought 2 pictures on our first visit and on our second "commissioned" him to paint another ( I wanted on of a boabab tree ). Just super! The guy himself is a real gent and has been working there since 2008. So if you are looking for a souvenir of your time in Livingstone/Africa you'll probably find something at this market, but do check out Augustine at number 44!

Located on the main street of Livingstone, the walkway is covered of the street vendors area. No hassle, no pushing to buy, very friendly

Nice collection of commercial crafts. Most appeared to be mass produced. Prices were reasonable.

Who doesn’t love a Curio Market packed with crafts made by local folks and the chance to truly interact with every day shopkeepers? If that’s not you, then choose another activity, but for me a chance to pop by many stalls, and chat with people to find out who they are and what they’re about as well finding excellent crafts and gifts to bring home, is my favorite way to pass the afternoon!
Along with some super finds of local art and fun wood carvings, chatting with David in one stall and Maria in Stall 56 and three or four others that were equally as nice, warmed my heart ..plus I have great gifts to bring home !!

We recommend shop no. 43 & 44. Augustine at 44 does nice paintings and is friendly and not pushy at all.
推荐店铺43和44,尤其是44的画家小伙子,热情幽默,不硬推。
