- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia19,455 contributionsBeautiful and long beachMy Khe is the central beach of Da Nang city. It's a long and sandy beach, pretty wide. Many hotels line it, just across a busy street. There're many free parts, as well some where's a bar and where you can rent sunbeds. Water is shallow for long, usually with waves. Try to get up early one day before sunrise, as the beach is east oriented. Apart beautiful scenery of the rising sun, you'll enjoy many locals around swimming, practicing tai-chi, jogging, exercising.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 1, 2024
- Anny RSingapore, Singapore424 contributionsLong stretch!Lovely quiet long stretch of sandy beach! May be we came off season. It was really nice and quiet. The wind cool. Great to just chill. Refreshments sold along the beach.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 5, 2024
- Juliet NGuatemala City, Guatemala1 contributionVery clean and beautiful beach, perfect for long walk with an amazing city view on the other side.Clean beach with very soft sand. Designated areas to swim in with a lifeguard watching. Beautiful surroundings and lights at night. Also in February the water was a great temperature - tepid - not really hot or cold. I've been to many beaches all over the world and this is one of the best beaches I've been too.Visited February 2024Traveled on businessWritten February 26, 2024

- Winnie WongSingapore, Singapore129 contributionsClean white beach with installed swing and exercise apps. Enjoyed their iced coffee while enjoying the view.Peaceful, clean beach with white sand and clear blue water. Great for a relaxing time as it’s not too busy. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby so you can easily spend the whole day here. Shame there wasn’t any water activities or swimming allowed.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 5, 2024
- NadeemPlain City, Ohio3 contributionsDiscovering paradise at My Khe BeachThe beach offers not only safe swimming but also great restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. We were amazed by the abundant marine life we encountered while snorkeling. The diverse cultural influences in the area added an extra layer of charm to our visit. We highly recommend this beautiful beach destination for a relaxing and enriching getaway.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 14, 2024
- gladys sHong Kong, China28 contributionsNice spot for leisureWe booked a hotel along the beach front. The view was amazing, we could watch the sunrise and noted there were many early swimmers. We walked along the beach leisurely and the landscape along the seaside was stunning. We even named it as Vietnamese Gold Coast. You could play water sports and swimming was only allowed in designated areas. At night during the weekends, there were music playing in the beach clubs and offered a different vibe.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 26, 2024

- arpitamGurugram (Gurgaon), India931 contributionsNot to be missed if you are in DanangA very long stretch of clean and wide beach with lots of gaming and fun activities options. People start their day with a yoga or Tai Chi session right at the beach. This is such peaceful sight to behold just when the sun rises across the horizon of Vietnam sea. The sea side promenade is very well maintained and equipped with exercise machines for the daily use of residents / tourist. Many people are seen cycling along the beach. As the day progresses team of visitors start to arrive. Active beach volleyball is very common. Generally the beach is absolutely safe for bathing with small waves. Surfers gather at the places with more waves. There are numerous beach side shacks with variety of food and drinks for all types of visitors.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 3, 2024
- AyeshaLos Angeles, California4 contributionsSerenity and safe swimmingWe were impressed by My Khe Beach's wide stretch of soft sand and clear, warm waters. Lifeguards were present, making it feel safe for swimming. The beach was also surprisingly clean and offered a tranquil atmosphere, even with a moderate crowd. My Khe is perfect for couples seeking a relaxing beach day, especially in the late afternoon when the sunset creates a stunning backdrop.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 4, 2024

With a coastline of 35km long from Hai Van Pass to Non Nuoc, Da nang is one of the most beautiful coastal cities in Vietnam. Closed to the city center (5km), the most popular beach My Khe is the common name of the coastline lasted 10km from the base of the Son Tra Peninsula to the Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son). It's just 5km to get here from Da Nang city center and 25km from Hoi An.

Beautiful beach. We were staying in one of the hotels facing the beach and every moment was mesmerizing. Beautiful sunset with people hitting the water as early as 5.30, exercising, aerobics, zumba classes and more. In the evening with all the lights coming on and the food stalls, option to rent chairs and just making sand art in the clean sand - just wonderful. Life guards are always available and flags are raised to indicate when it's not safe for a swim.

Quite a long stretch of beach with hotels and restaurant opposite it across the main road. Few restaurants available by the beach and some beach canopy / chairs too. Less tourists since the waves are quite strong with red flag on warning. Realised that there's one area where the drainage from the city flows out towards the beach and to the sea which emits quite nasty smell and surely dirty water. Didnt managed to get the photo but its easy to notice.

The golden sand is soft and inviting, and the stunning sunrise is truly breathtaking. We spent our mornings watching the sky turn pink and our days lounging in the warm sun. The beach is lively but not crowded, making it perfect for couples.

Known to Americans as China Beach, our Vietnamese tour guide advised our group that this 20 mile long beach with beautiful white sand and coconut trees does not belong to China, and told us of the proper name. Used as a respite for American military during the Vietnam War, My Khe Beach on the South China Sea got its American nickname of "China Beach" at that time. It is considered the finest beach in Vietnam. Numerous high-rise hotels and luxury resorts line the street adjacent to My Khe Beach. Traffic was a snarled mess when we stopped for a visit. Easy to see its lure for tourists.

This beach is unexpectedly beautiful besides the world class ones from Australia. It's just steps away from hotels and restaurants so it's like in Gold Coast, very friendly to tourists and local swimmers, or more precisely surfers. Sand was fine and clean, credit to the workers to maintain this beach for public. Even it does not have the depth for sandy beach, it's long enough to accommodate huge number of beach goers. Must visit even you have brought your swim wears along.

Not too busy and quiet beach. Great serenity. It is good for just walking along the water edge to quiet your mind. Beach itself is shallow quite a while. It feels safe and surf guard watches very carefully. It will be nice if they have shower booths there.

My Khe Beach is a really nice beach with soft & white sand, temperate waves. There are several food and beverage options along the scenic walkway. Maybe because the beach is close the city centre with lots of hotels & residential nearby, it is too crowded...

Clean white sand beach with palm trees and mild waves. Picturesque panoramic view showing SonTra mountain awaits for shutterbugs. Beach usually crowded around 5pm after it cools down some.

It's a long beach with white sand, some hotels and restaurants along it. Red flag was posted during my visit and people were not allowed to swim.
I noted that a few high-rise buildings are under construction, I believe they are hotels-to-be.
It's a cozy and tranquil beach.

is the water okay for swimming? Are there any dangerous sea creatures? I heard that in some months there can be a lot of jellyfish

We are looking to visit Vietnam, base ourselves at a beach and go on some trips.
We want to go to Hoi An, Hue and do the Top Gear Tour across the pass.
Is this all possible from this beach area.
Would also welcome other suggestions for better beach base and also other places to see in this area.
Thanks.

If you want to be in a beach town, stay in Danang. You can always take daytrips to Hoi An, which is only 29km away. Hoi An also has a few nice beaches about 5km away, An Bang (very touristy), Lonely beach (very nice and cheaper), and Coconut beach (you will have the whole beach to yourself).
Are you travelling with kids? We rented scooters for the week, and travelled between the 2 towns (we stayed in both).
The distance between Danang and Hue is about 100km one way. So put a whole day aside if you are not sleeping over in Hue. (you are obviously going to stop along the way to take in the scenery and take pictures). Also Hai Van Pass has lots of twists and turns, if you are travelling by scooter and are not an experienced motorcycle driver, beware of trucks, etc. But still worth it, very beautiful.
I have a contact in Danang for renting scooters. Just message me.

May I know on December weather is it hot?
Is it ok for swim?
Tks!
Written August 12, 2018
The weather is still pretty good. A little cooler, maybe 20-25C, but when it's sunny it's great for a swim. Be ready for cool water though!

Hi, I'll be visiting Da Nang in end Apr, anyone has a good reliable private tour guide with transport to recommend?

I've just moved to Da Nang to work here for a year, and had been really looking forward to doing lots of swimming! However, there seem to be "no swimming" signs pretty much down the entirety of the beach? There are only a few small sections where swimming is permitted, and so these tiny areas are super crowded and it's impossible to relax and swim. The sections seem to have been chosen arbitrarily and even if I venture out a few metres from the invisible line in the water, an overzealous lifeguard uses his whistle and waves me back in.
Does anyone know the reasoning behind this? There are no boats moored, and the water is very shallow even in the no swimming areas.
Written October 18, 2017
As far as I am aware, the 'no swimming zones' are more prevalent at this time of year due to weather conditions, which result in large amounts of debris and more importantly, 'under tows' or 'rip currents' and I certainly noticed the latter off My Khe beach on my visit in September. The tides also create 'hidden gullies' which can suddenly put you out of your depth. Hopefully the areas will become less prevalent as the seasons change, but in the meantime, rely on the lifeguards.
