Early July, two other teachers and myself experienced such a well-planned and yet flexible bicycle ride with an excellent guide, Chan Nguyen, who is the owner. Professional, timely, responsive, and proactive, Chan has a high level of English/vocabulary as well as bicycling expertise. He is a university teacher in marketing/tourism In Vietnam, and knows how to treat his customers. Even if one of his trained guides was your guide for a trip, be rest assured, because he trains his employees thoroughly and expects the same professionalism.
Our trip was tailored for a two-day excursion with just the right amount of challenge on the mountain, exploring and discovering the backroads, photographing as we chose, and resting in the support vehicle if necessary. The driver was pleasant and attentive. We had the option of a comfortable accommodation on the beach for our overnight, and plenty of good food, water, and snacks. All of this was very well-timed, yet relaxed enough for us to spend more time with whatever captivated us along the way. Chan's clear communication, encouragement, and interesting information made the experience very pleasant. We even exceeded our expectations in tackling the climb up Hai Van pass, which is one of most gorgeous, pristine views of the Vietnam coastline. So exhilarating!

There are several routes up Monkey Mountain. We took the most challenging. After about a 4k warm up along the coast, we went straight up to 160m in one climb. It was steep but doable. As I knew the top is about 550m, I thought I had pretty much cracked it. But we then dropped back down to about 50m. Then pretty much a one hour climb up to the top. There are a couple of flatish sections and our great guide, Long, stopped for breaks and to look at the monkeys. This broke it up into manageable sections. The views from the top were incredible and worth the effort to get there.
The run down was fantastic with us topping out at about 60km/hr but dont go mad as there are others coming against you in cars and mbikes who are looking at the view, not the road(!) and the occasional monkey on the road.
Overall a great ride but unless you are relatively fit and used to hill climbing on a bike use an easier route. We actually did the fastest time Long had ever done so perhaps we pushed a bit harder than normal but that is what I wanted. Total elevation gain was about 800m, on a 550m peak, so quite a bit of up and down.
Fantastic ride and I have booked HCM trail ride next. Really well run outfit and bikes are good for hire bikes.

Fantastic day on the bike over Hai Van Pass alongside excellent guide Long! I was unable to make the first date I’d booked and despite only 12 hours notice Chan cheerfully rearranged it. I was picked up from my hotel near Hoi An and driven to the starting point where I was given a well maintained Trek hardtail with disc brakes. Long was an enthusiastic guide showing me the local fisherman culture and telling me about the local Vietnamese way of life. The Hai Van climb was magnificent despite cloudy conditions and Long didn’t mind how slow I was going! We stopped at a shrine half way up and water was continually available. We stopped again at the summit for local tea and refreshing juice which helped me recover from the 11km climb. The descent to the lagoon is equally stunning as we made our way to a fabulous beachside restaurant for a lovely local sea food lunch. The cycling is nearly all on quiet backroads so being able to enjoy the surroundings is easy with plenty of stops to enjoy the view and take photos. After 80kms Chan met us to drive me back to the hotel. A great day in the saddle which I’d definitely recommend.

We had a fabulous time. The bikes were of a good standard, the route was lovely, through lots of back streets and quiet roads through the countryside. Wong, our guide was excellent. He was really knowledgeable on the area but he told us lots of other interesting things along the way. The rice noodle making and wood carving was a good addition, and our lunch stop to a local restaurant was delicious.

We have just had another fabulous trip with Pathbiker. We did the Danang - Hue trip (2 days). It was fantastic riding, the challenge of Hai Van pass and the more leisurely ride through villages and rice paddy's. The bikes are excellent, Biker Nguyen is extremely knowledgeable and willing to share Vietnamese cultural aspects, and Long is a great guy to have around. The beach front accommodation was great and the opportunity to sample the beachside fish restaurants memorable. Being able to explore with this local knowledge opens up so many aspects of Vietnam which otherwise would be difficult to access. I thoroughly recommend path biker, they are patient and cater to all abilities.

Great day cycling with Quan. Visit to My Son followed by lunch and cycling trip round the back lanes in the Hoi An sunshine. Quan was knowledgeable and flexible, changing the itinerary to suit the conditions. Bikes are great quality, pace was just right.

We did a tour with Path Biker 3 years ago and really enjoyed it. This year we decided to join another one and it was great too. We rode up the Monkey Mountain with Long, our guide and everything we saw and experienced was really enjoyable. Beautiful nature and saw the most beautiful monkeys, red shanked Doucs. Long was very helpful and friendly.

A great day even with the rain, my guide and driver were excellent. It was a trip of survival due to very wet conditions but even so a forever memory. A support vehicle was on hand if needed amd the Trek hard tail mountain bike did the job well. We overall cycled 53kms with a lot of climbing and an awesome tarmac down hill to finish. Ride on tarmac and not really an MTB adventure.

The cycling portion of our Vietnam adventure exceeded all of our expectations. Chan was an amazing guide, very flexible with our route and abilities. We definitely got off the beaten path and saw a different part of Vietnam. It was great to see something, and actually be able to stop and ask questions about it. Chan was extremely knowledgeable and if he didn't know the answer to our questions, he certainly found them out for us. The accommodations chosen by Chan were fabulous, and he made sure we tasted every local delicacy at each place we stopped. It was honestly the best part of our trip, and that was because of Chan and his team. Long and Mr Phat were also great. If you are thinking about a cycling trip in this area, Chan is your man. He already has a different route for us on our next visit! We were moderate cyclists, to say the least, and one thing that would have been good for our group, was to cycle for 2 days, have a day off exploring, and then to cycle for 2 more days. Overall excellent experience. Thank you Chan, Long and Mr. Phat

Mr. Chan was extremely responsive to all of our questions regarding our 2 day bicycle trip from Da Nang to Hue. He and his team were very professional in every manner. This trip with 2 friends was truly one of the highlights of my summer. He was patient when we wanted to stop continually for photographs. He was encouraging and very patient as we slowly made our way up the Hai Van Pass. Our meals and accommodations were excellent. Literally everything about him, his staff, and our trip was top-notch. Because of this, we scheduled another easy bike trip around Hoi An the following week. We were able to see areas we would have never gone to on our own. I highly recommend anything of his tours!
