We found this pagoda by chance. It is not mentioned in Lonely Planet or tourist map. It is certainly worth a visit!

I was wearing a knee length dress with a sweatshirt on top and was not permitted to enter, even as men walked by wearing shorts that were shorter than my dress. I understand wanting to be respectful because it is a religious sanctuary, but this is an absurd level of prejudice. Do not go here!

With our ticket to Hoi An old town we were allowed to visit 5 attractions so we chose Chua Phap Boa Pagoda as our first choice. We had seen so many pagodas in Asia and this one was similar to the rest, but if you have never seen a pagoda before you will probably enjoy a visit here.

The temple was built with 2-storey architecture, nice decoration to every detail. The architecture. bears the style of ancient houses in Hoi An.The main hall is solemnly decorated. In the middle of the religious image Shakyamuni Buddha sermon, in front of the statue of Amitabha Buddha and Maitreya Bodhisattva statue. The Bodhisattva Quan The Bodhisattva Bodhisattva and the Bodhisattva Bodhisattva. The Pagoda also worships Thien, Evil and Dharma protectors ...
Phap Bao is the pseudonym of Minh Hai ancestor, the 34-year-old Lam Te Chanh Zen sect, declared the painting of Phap Bao Pagoda -
The Zen master Minh Hai-Phap Bao (1670-1746), the Patriarch of Lam Te Chuc Thanh, was one of the first Chinese Zen teachers to bring Lam Te Zen to Quang Nam. Here he leaves the lineage of the Lineage of the 34th generation, later becoming a separate branch of the Lineage of Minh Te Minh Hai or the Lineage of the Godly Blessings.
After Zen Master Thach Liem returned home, some members of the delegation stayed in Minh Hai - Phap Bao and Minh Luong - Thanh Dang.
The Zen Master Minh Hai - Phap Bao opened the Temple of Chuc Thanh in Cam Pho commune (now Hoi An town) in 1697. At first, Minh Hai only set up a workshop to practice spiritually, a few years later, he opened a school . teaching and training Sangha. His virtues influenced a large number of Hoi people, the number of people taking refuge was very large. After that, he wanted the lineage to be long-lasting so that he should leave the school to establish the Lin Te Chuc sect. Legend has it that during Minh Hai's reign, Chuc Thanh Pagoda was just a small, small temple, after which his generation continued to promote the dharma and develop the architecture of To Dinh temple, like today. . Phap Bao Pagoda was renovated in 2000. The temple is currently located in the office of the Buddhist Representative Committee of Hoi An town.
Important event: the Phật Đản (Buddha birthday festival In Vietnam the day is celebrated on the eighth day of the fourth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, and prayers and offerings are made throughout Vietnam.) In Hoi An, this day is celebrated in the Phap Bao pagoda, the temple is decorated extravagantly, the monks walk in several processions along the streets, the smell of incense permeates the cities and adds to the spiritual nature of the festivals. gather in front of the pagodas to observe the religious rites and listen to the Vesak message, as well as the speech given by the monk's chief of the pagoda, who then offer food and gifts to the children and the needy.

When you travel Asia you see a lot of temples. This one was special and also quiet.Made some nice pictures here and had time for a nice meditation. One special statue, a lady with hundreds of hands, faces, eyes, behind glass. Beautifull and facinating
