In the course of cycling around the island, we were led by the guide (the great Barry, in my case) to different houses, seeing the manufacture of mats, rice wine, rice noddles, shipbuilding, etc.. The great thing is that you can actually take part in some of the process. I really have a very good experience for the tour and highly recommend this tour.

Interesting to wander around the township and to the temple across the fields and to visit the special water well.
The snorkelling is nothing to rave about - but then we're spoilt in Australia. Also be aware the disinfecting of snorkels and masks consists of dipping them in the sea after use!

Took the bicycles out to explore Cam Nam Island - across the pedestrian bridge behind the markets in Hoi An. Cars & mini vans use the bridge to transport tourists I guess, otherwise it is just for cyclists and walkers. No need to do a paid tour. Just pedal or walk around the island, a meandering, follow tracks to somewhere or nowhere, soaking up this peaceful little community. At the very end of the "main" road is the boat builder, and then tracks take you thru corn fields, water way on the other side of the island with fishing nets, cows grazing and green green grass. It doesn't matter if you make a wrong turn - everything is as is, nothing fancy just unfrazzled life. Some great photo opportunities too. We just loved this little sojourn - a few friendly waves of Sinjow and an easy bike ride.

We took off on bicycles from our hotel' typically English not considering the midday sun. After navigating our way through Cam Thanh, we headed into Hoi An and eventually across the bridge to Cam Nam Island. We didn't get very far along the main road running parallel to the Thu Bon River, before we needed to rest. We called into a mini store for a couple of cans of Lemon Tea and a bottle of Water before sitting out on the kerbside to drink our drinks. The shopkeeper noticing this opened a side gate to her property, brought out two chairs from her house, and a table, wiped them all down and offered them to us. She then plugged in a fan to waft a breeze on us under the shade of her garden trees. We spent very little money with her, and sadly I do not know the name of the store, but the kindness and generosity offered was amazing. Vietnamese people are so warm and friendly, but this lady took it to a new and inspiring level. Well done and thank you for your kindness our mystery angel you certainly restored our spirits and our faith in mankind.

From Hoi An’s centre, a short ferry ride will take you to Cam Kim Island, an interesting place for an early morning cycle, which deserves to be added into this checklist of Hoi An attractions.
Cam Kim Island is renowned for its woodcarving village (Kim Bong) and boasts peaceful countryside. Tourists could find other crafts here too, such as the basket fishing boats made by locals and the colorful woven sedge mats. One of the highly recommended activities when visiting Cam Kim Island is to peddle through corn and rice fields around it, even without the tour-guide. Don’t worry, you will not get lost there, and the experience will be particularly worthwhile.

We hired the two bikes from mrs sinh across the road from our hotel. 30,000 dong. There are bikes to hire all over Hoi an for same price or maybe 25,000 dong. We studies the map for our ride via the website hoiannow, which is for expats but has lots of relevant great info.
I would advise to do it as early as you can in the morning as we started out at 8.00 and was already steamy hot. We just took a street once across the bridge and road to wherever. Spent about 3hrs total mooching around d and taking photos. Lots of small farms of corn and chilli and rice. It was a great ride and quiet and we eventually found the boat making area. There are tours I believe you can do with a quide on bikes but we enjoyed just doing it our selves without being directed in time frame to go to places.

I have read reviews that suggest there is nothing to see on Can Nam. You would have to be blind or brain dead to think that.
I have done several bicycle rides around Can Nam and always enjoy the variety of houses and goings on in the community. There are some nice places to eat, have a drink, or even a massage.
After crossing the Can Nam bridge, if you head towards the right as if to go anticlockwise around the island you will come to a stand of bamboo and a beer shop. From there you can get some great photos of the "Old Town" across the river, and have a beer at the same time.

IT was close enough to ride a bike into the busy Hoi An but gave us a quieter place to wonder and sleep and go to the beaches. We stayed on and AIRBNB that was right on the water like the picture shown. This was basically right out our front door. Two blocks the other way was the ocean. We could walk every where and there are lots of inexpensive cabs to take you where you want to go. Lots of great places to eat and we started our day at Tina's Cafe. Would definitely go back there.

Hoi An is a beautiful place. But, it's very commercial and, well, it's OK to want a bit of a break. I took a bike from my hotel and went off exploring. The island is really quite close to downtown Hoi An and is connected to Hoi An via a narrow bridge. Quickly enough, you'll be surrounded by rice fields, water buffalo and pagodas. There are little towns all over the place and friendly farmers. To be perfectly honest, while I really loved Hoi An, I think I actually liked Cam Nam Island better!
