Has this place gone bankrupt?
Aug 2018 • Family
We drove out of Hoi An in a taxi for about 20 minutes, very excited to see this “old village” and maybe buy a few trinkets.
However it appears now to just be a large Vietnamese restaurant with a museum that time forgot. No one asked us for an entrance ticket ( very rare here) and all the rooms were full of dusty things for sale which were hundreds of pounds.
There were no craft people except for a man asleep on the floor, and nobody appeared to work there, except in the restaurant. After about 30 minutes of pointlessly wandering around, during which time we tried to engage with various “staff”, none of whom spoke a word of English, we gave up and rang our taxi to come back.
This place appears to have stopped being a craft village and is just a restaurant for coach trips and school children. Such a shame. Could see it had the potential to be really interesting.

Interesting place to browse and walk around. No one takes entrance ticket so we don't need to pay. Lot of ancient crafts and furniture.

Not sure how much there is to see.

After wandering around part of the grounds we found a ticket collector and entered what I assume was the museum proper. A guide came to show us around. She showed us three houses then took us to the restaurant. It wasn't worth the 100,000VND entrance fee. The restaurant catered to Vietnamese tastes (this isn't a complaint) rather than western tastes. The buildings we wandered around before going into the 'museum' may have been examples of houses from around Vietnam but if they were there was no signage to indicate where they were from or how old they were and most just seemed to contain things for sale. The craft village was not operating when we were there.

Vietnamese traditional architecture museum

If you want to get knowledge about Vietnamese Traditional Architecture, you have to visit here,
It's a lager area in which they built 108 houses according to 3 areas of Vietnam: the north, central and south of Vietnam.
Especially, you could watch or join in procession to make Quảng noddle - famous local food of Hội An and Danang

A must see attraction
Apr 2017 • Couples
Wow. my husband and i after many travels to Vietnam found another treasure.
We were taken here by the tour guide and how beautiful and so cultural and beautiful. Its on the way to My son or the way back.
We could have stayed here all day.
Vinahouse also supplies great coffee and food.
We were told that a Vietnamese man has taken a lot of old houses and relics and put them in one area and developed a stunning garden around all this history.
This is a must to see.
We believe he is building another one near Danang.

Visit this place! So much work is done to restore the old traditional village with several different hand made houses of reach and poor peasants who lived here a hundreds years ago. Many careful charming details, beautiful garden. Acting old kitchen, where you can see how local food is done. And taste it right here in lovely restaurant. Great time!

The Museum is required viewing if you're in the area. Our guide spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable and generous with her time. The history of the buildings and Vietnamese traditions was fascinating, while the walk around the property was absolutely beautiful. While you're there, make sure you dine at the fabulous in-house restaurant too!

Must visit!
Sep 2016 • Couples
You can take a trip to this museum and even have a meal there. It's about 9 km away from Hoi An.

We were thoroughly impressed by Mr. Le Van Vinh, a young craftsman who, together with his carpenter father had taken it upon themselves to preserve various centuries-old houses from the North, South and Central Vietnam in one space, surrounded by ponds and trees, also transplanted from various parts of Vietnam. This was told to us by an in-house guide, Ms. Han and by the manager, Mr. Nathan Leuer from Seattle.

Words cannot describe how impressed we were with the logistics needed to transport the houses, piece by piece and to transplant the trees to make this museum so interesting.

There is an entry fee of 99,000 VND but if you eat at the restaurant and spend a certain amount, you can get a complimentary ticket to enter. A guide is available for free to take you around.

We can see that this museum, and the restaurant, for that matter, is not a commercial enterprise but rather, it is the passion of the craftsman, Mr. Le (who is only 37 years old!) and his father to protect the heritage of old Vietnamese houses from being lost.

Go on then! Add this museum to your itinerary and check it out.

Dear Mr. Tnflee, I remember your visit, and I am very happy to see your positive review. On behalf of Mr. Vinh, myself, and the team at Vinahouse Space, I want to say thank you for appreciating what we and especially Mr. Vinh Le Van are trying to do here, and for appreciating the efforts he went through to make this place. Thank you also for sharing your experience with Trip Advisor, and helping us to let people know we are here. Hope to see you again sometime, Best wishes to you and yours, Nathan Lauer
