We attended the Saturday evening Mass. A Parishioner and the Priest both brought us Mass books in English which was appreciated. Our tour guide said that this is the oldest Catholic Church in Vietnam. Mass in English is Sunday at 16:00. Other Mass times are in the photo. Church is proximate to but not in the old town.

The Cathedral in Hoi An is very modern and nice. Just wanted to put a review in, as I had a little bit of a hard time find information, when I was researching.
English Mass is at 4pm = > I was a little late because I mistakenly thought it was at 5pm, and got a little lost riding in the rain to get to church.
Just a note, because it is humid in Hoi An, you might want to make sure you sit by the outer pews where the fans are placed.
It was a great Mass :0 )

As Christians we were excited to see the cathedral because it was Good Friday and even though we are not Catholic we spend time in our home church celebrating Christ's resurrection. The parishioners were very welcoming and there were many young people present for the walk around the outside of the church praying at the 12 stations of the cross. Their voices rang out their celebration and thanks. All ages participated. What a blessing in a Communist country. We were visiting because my husband was stationed here at the hospital during the Vietnam War in 1967-1968. He had photos of the church that he shared with the nuns - the church looks the same. We will never forget this Good Friday.

Amazing to see this majestic cathedral in Hoi An. A testimonial to faith since 1615. Adjacent to the old town.

Im interested in religion and history. So I did visit this one and I was happy with the peaceful atmosphere. Some tombs of the ones who devoted themself for their belief. About history, Hoian is one of first place when the missonaries choosed to stay when first arrving Vietnam. I will come back if having chance.

I went to the Cathedral for Mass in English. The singing was lively, and it was interesting to experience Mass in Vietnam.

Attended Mass Christmas Day was in English and they have an English Mass on a Sunday at 1600 hours. It is a sung Mass and words of hymns are on the screen.

Early morning, I checked out from my hostel and I was walking my way towards An Bang Beach when I happened to bump into this church. The gate was opened but no one was in the compound except a lady who was arranging some flowers for prayers to the Mary statue at the compound. The statues around the compound were artistically carved and give an aesthetic appeal.
From the side, I walked further in and found few residents sipping their tea or coffee under a shed beside the main church hall. They looked at me in surprise but I just nodded my head and gestured that I was just sightseeing around. They did not bother me and I walked into the main church hall.
The hall was quiet with rows of benches in front of the altar. It is a typical Catholic Church. The Church resembled the Church of the Immaculate Conception I visited in Johor Bahru.
I understand from my reading that the church was constructed sometime in 1908 and rebuilt in the 1960s. Evangelistic activities by early Jesuits from Portugal and Italy in Hoi An became more prominent when they fled persecution in Japan and took refuge with the Japanese community in Hoi An.
The admission is free. This church looks ordinary. Nevertheless, in a town where Buddhism and Confucianism were the dominant worship philosophy, this church added another unique cultural flavor to this quaint town. The influence of the European culture in this oriental seaport is not as deeply ingrained as that in Melaka where Portuguese and Dutch imprints were obvious.
It was an accidental discovery but Hoi An impressed me that she has more to offer than just an ancient old seaport town for the Japanese and Chinese traders who once came here for business.
The Catholic Church is a testimony to early Jesuit missionary and evangelistic work in Hoi An. Do take a look before you leave Hoi An.

Hi, Understand that you were in Hoi An and attended Mass at the Cathedral.
Would you
1) Have the address of where the church is (because on Google maps, it claims it is permanently closed).
2) Do you know what are the other Mass times, other than the 4pm Sunday Mass you attended?
Thank you for your kind assistance.
