There is a reason Nguyet has 171 five star reviews! She is so friendly, full of information and the class is such good value! (private as opposed to 15 people following one guide at the market!)
I particularly loved the market tour as she shared with us a lot of local information. I also loved visiting the vegetable gardens owned by her family. It was nice to get out of the bustling Old Town too. It was truly a local Hoi An experience.
This was one of the best things we did during our week in Vietnam.

The two of us booked a cooking class two months ahead online before our Vietnam trip. Everything turned out perfect We were picked up at our hotel on time and went to the two markets to select our ingredient. We selected our dishes online before arriving.
I was an experience learning what to look for when selecting fresh local vegetables, seafood and meat. We then went to the restaurant where the family has had their communal garden for a long time. We picked more spices there and learned about the culture and other very interesting facts. We then prepared our dishes with excellent one on one instruction and then ate. This experience was so much better than those group classes offered elsewhere. We even took the leftovers back to the hotel for dinner later on that day after relaxing by the pool.

We have been coming here many times over many years and never have been disappointed. The spring rolls are without a doubt the best I have ever eaten. Every dish is amazing, the service is personal and we love it here. We have a few day left and will definitely be back.

We’re a family of 5 with 1 vegetarian and our youngest being 9 years old. We had a great time and really enjoyed the day and felt we were treated exceptionally well. We got to experience great food, see some amazing things and get some insights into Vietnamese life, history and culture. Thanks so much and we highly recommend!

We have had one of the best days of our whole trip doing the market tour and cooking class with the very lovely and very knowledgeable Nguyet.

Nguyet met us at our homestay in the morning and we all cycled together to the market. After the tour (which we really recommend, Nguyet buys all the ingredients you will use that day and its just a really informative and fun experience) we cycled to Nguyet's restaurant, Baby Mustard, to start the class. There was only the two of us and we made lots of lovely food (which was a miracle as neither me or my boyfriend can cook) under the expert guidance of Nguyet and we even recieved an email after with the recipes. It was a really wonderful day and I can't recommend Nguyet and her cooking class highly enough. An exceptionally reasonable price too at $22 pp for class and market tour.

Thank you so much Nguyet and we can't wait to try out the recipes when we get home.

My husband and I had an amazing time at Baby Mustard cooking Sch. Nguyet met us at our hotel and we walked around the market buying vegetables, prawns, beef, squid and noddles to use back at the restaurant. When we arrived we walked around the herb garden and tasted all the fresh herbs we were going to use. Then it was time to start our lesson! We loved it and the food was delicious. Thank you x

We didn't know what to expect from our cooking class. We had selected the option of going to the market before hand (small additional fee, totally worth it). Nguyet, who speaks perfect English, picked us up by taxi because it was raining like mad. We spent the next hour or so picking out all of the items we needed to cook the three dishes that we had preselected by email the day before. My partner and I are good cooks and have worked in restaurants for over a decade each, we are no strangers to food. Nguyet provided insights into proper ingredient selection that was relevant, interesting, and new too us. We loved it! It was also nice to move like a local in the market and see what really goes on. The cooking class is held at Nguyet's restaurant, Baby Mustard, which is on a small island outside of Hoi An. It is a quick cab ride and is totally accessible by bike if the rain allows it. We were given a tour of the herb village that abuts the restaurant. We got to taste all of the herbs and see how they grew, which was really informative. The cooking class itself was great, she talked us through all of the steps and helped us fine-tune the seasoning for our tastes. When we finished cooking we got to enjoy the fruits of our labor. The food was amazing. We also received a prompt email with all of the recipes that night so we could recreate the dishes later. I can't wait to whip up some amazing Vietnamese food for our friends when we get home. They will be so impressed :)

P.S.
Although she doesn’t have a website, she is incredibly responsive to email and phone calls. Don't let the lack of website deter you!

We took the little Mustard cooking class and is was fantastic. The twins (who are13) loved it and we all made the most delicious lunch . You can choose what to cook and then you go around the market . It was wonderful to see how fresh everything was . I would highly recommend this as a fun morning with a delicious lunch 🥙

I feel richer having spent half a day with my family (including my girls aged 9 and 11) and Nguyet in her family home and kitchen. I have much deeper appreciation for Vietnamese food and the thought and philosophy that goes into creating mouthwatering flavors. Nguyet has a university qualification in banking and commerce but her passion for food and cooking has resulted in this cooking business. The reservoir of knowledge she has from growing up in a family of great cooks is astounding. Her English is excellent. If you’re in Hoi An - this is a must do.

I cannot speak highly enough of our cooking class at Baby Mustard, it was brilliant in so many ways!

Our wonderful guide and teacher Wit collected us from our hotel. Immediately her patience, kind heart and huge knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine and ingredients became evident.

We pick our preferred dishes and headed to the market to pick up the ingredients. I learnt so much in that hour, how to tell whether a pepper is male of female(who knew?), how to select good fresh prawns, how to make an all natural shampoo and so much more.

We then went back to the restaurant for our cookery class. It's such a beautiful and peaceful setting to learn in.

Wit also have us a tour of the gardens at Tra Que where they grow a lot of the fresh ingredients. She identified lemongrass, lemon basil, citronella, peanut plants and even a sesame seed crop!

During our class we talked happily about culture and the Vietnamese way of life. Wit listened carefully and gave us so much care and attention. She carefully explained everything, a really wonderful teacher!

This class was everything I hoped it would be and more, total perfect!
