definitely book with discovery, the people are so friendly and authentic! The food in a little shack on the water was really good, service fast and they were flexible with my vegetarian wishes. The boat ride in the water coconut fields was very nice and fun, the lady was very friendly and overall a good way to explore this part of hoi an.

first of all its the people. the Nguyens are such a wellcoming family, modest and pure hearted. Tuan arranged my trip, a very fun and funny guy, i learnet so much about the water coconuts, the war in Hoi An, living with climate challanges, and about Hoi An. And i got a lot of help arround the town.... i can say only good things!!

Paddle through the mangroves in boats no bigger than garbage can lids. There are tours that take you there from Hoi An. Better to take your own bike out and get there early before the crowds.

It's a little off the beaten track, but only a ten minute journey from Hoi An. It combines a beautiful location with some great activities. We didn't do the zip wires and assault course as most of these end up with you taking a dunk in the water and it was cold the day we went. Hiring a stilted shack and trying to catch fish was perfect though. The kids loved it. You can order drinks and food to be served to you in your shack and also have the choice of having the fish you catch cooked for you (we let them go).

It was our last day in Hoi An. We did not want to book another tour so decided to take a taxi to the coconut plantation, hoping to be able to find a ride in one of the Vietnam's small round boats. When we arrived there, we found it more touristy then expected with a bigger Chinese group leaving. A young man on a motorcycle asked us if we want to get on a boat ride. We agree and he brought us to his house. He seemed to then call his extended family we were in 3 boats with a local women driving the boats through the coconut plantation. The women were extremely nice, making fun in the boats, racing the boats, spinning them etc. We then went crap fishing from the boats in the coconuts. We only had an hour and could not extend to learn how to use the fishing nets. It was a fun activity included in many longer tours. But this way it was cheaper and took us only 2 hours ( 30 min drive, one hour tour, 30 min back). You can also go there with your own scooter. The young man and his father asked us to recommend them, so that is what I do since it was a great short and fun activity. Looking at the website they seem to have more activities going on as well. It might be worth checking out.
