We signed up for the half day countryside tour on bicycles and enjoyed it very much (VND460,000 per adult and half price for kids).
The bicycles and the guide (Phuong) arrived at 8am where we stayed which was also the starting point of the adventure. The good thing is that you need not be super cyclists to do this tour. I would say that we were on the main roads only 20% of the time (not much heavy traffic in any case) while the 80% was on dirt tracks with little traffic. The pace could also be adjusted as there was no hurry.
The following were the main highlights:
1. Herb garden at Tra Que.
2. Trying the round wooden boat ''Thung Chai" amidst the coconut palm, catching crabs. This was really fun.
3. Trying to cast a fishing net (be a fisherman), with close supervision from the local fisherman at the fishing village.
On the way, at the padi fields, if the shepherd + water buffalo are within view, you can have a go on the ride on a water buffalo (my son did it for VND50,000).
The end point was the hotel we stayed. Overall a good way to spend half a day.

My wife and I had an interesting day in the Central Highlands with our very friendly guide Phong and excellent driver Tre who were both a lot of fun. We visited 3 villages sometimes walking over rickety suspension bridges which added to the adventure. We gave out some sweets to the children and said hello to adults at each short spot. Also went to Green Tea plantation and ate a pineapple at a roadside stop with locals. Very enjoyable day with Phong and Tre.

My husband and I booked the early morning My Son tour. Although it meant an early start I thought this was the best time to go. Lucky for us there was no others on our tour so we had our guide to ourselves (I have forgotton her name). She was very informative about the history of the My Son site and also allowed us to roam at our leisure. As it turned going in the morning you miss all the tourist mayhem, while we were there it was only us and a group of 5-6 other people, which made it perfect for taking great photos without having multiple people in your pictures or people getting in the way. Only small negative, they were 25 mins late picking us up, considering we were the only people I thought it was a bit slack. All in all a good experience.

First of all: every visitor of Vietnam should visit Mỹ Sơn. It's a great cultural and historical place to see.
The itinerary of the trip seemed good for a fair price (bus tour to Mỹ Sơn, visit of the ancient ruins, back to Hôi An via boat including lunch).
But as mentioned before there was a lot of chaos: one bus to collect the people from the hotels, then change to another for the trip to Mỹ Sơn. Both were in bad condition. The trip back was mostly by bus and only the last (short) part was by boat. The meal on the boat was fairly small and simple. But all in all it was enough for a rating of 3 out of 5.
But there was Mr. Ly. Although there seemed to be some knowledge about Mỹ Sơn most information just got repeated at every stone. Besides that we mostly heard silly and bad jokes while he was touching people. To be honest we tried to stay away from our guide and did the visit on our own. Never met a tour guide where you feel so uncomfortable.

First off, after picking us up at our hotell, the bus spent 1 hour and 20 minutes(!!) on picking people all over Hoi An (and we weren't even the first on the bus) before even leaving town. Then the expected ride of an hour could start.
Upon arriving to My Son we had to pay the entrance fee ourself although we previously were informed it would be included. And furthermore, we had to pay it to our guide and could absolutely not pay at the ticket booth, despite that the guide charged us the very same price. There's something shady going on right there.
Speaking of guide, I could not for my life figure out whether our "english-speaking guide" spoke english or vietnamese to us.
Although not the tour company's fault, but My Son possibly was a nice place, but it was hard to tell due to the thousands of tourists swarming the place.
On the boat trip back, we got our promised included lunch, which consisted of steamed rice, carrots and peas, all without taste. Drinks, even water, were extra.
According to the info sheet we were supposed to be back in Hoi An at 2:30, which turned out to be only partly true. We made a 30 min stop in a turist trap on an island just outside of Hoi An.
I concluded the day by taking a picture of 40 faces, each full of pure disappointment.
Don't go. Just don't.
PS. I can't help but notice that the few 5/5 ratings here are from people with only 1-2 ratings (which are all 5/5). Legit?

What a great idea it was to get a last minute booking on BCT's Eco Tour! Our guide Sinh (not sure on spelling - sorry!) was a really friendly guy who spoke great English and had a wealth of knowledge about the local practices. He also took us on the quieter roads for the bike riding part to keep us within our comfort zone - he also kept checking up on is. If you aren't comfortable in the traffic or on the somewhat muddy tracks through the rice fields then he is happy to dismount or guide you through quieter streets. The one thing the company doesn't market enough is the good for lunch... absolutely delicious, plentiful & fresh!!!! Good honest homemade food. Better than most of the pricier restaurants we have visited in Vietnam. Highly recommend that you book & ask for Sinh.

Today I prepaid a tour on Blue Coral Tour to visit a temple about forty five minutes from the city, paid entrance ticket, lunch, and boat trip return.
Tour guide : Mr Ly.
My Ly called me a fat Buddha. The story of the fat Buddha is that he was handsome and all the women were chasing him. So he became fat so that he'd be repulsive to women. Mr Ly was calling me repulsive to women, fat, and mocking me because I was unable to walk up the mountain. I'm over sixty and clearly his senior, superior, and paying customer.
I told Mr Ly to leave my table. He bellowed obscenities to me and the driver my hotel played to collect me. A refund by Blue Coral was refused. I returned by private car sent by my hotel.
Normally tours have one for leader, and one to hold the rear, but Blue Coral had one big, old bus, and a dilapidated Minivan, both full, and only Mr Ly as the sole tour guide, who ran ahead of the tour group.
No accommodation was made for my handicap. I did not come on the return boat ride, enter the temple, or eat lunch.
I asked the driver for the name and contact information for the company and it's owner, but the driver claimed no such knowledge.
All thumbs down for Blue Coral Travel

Mr Ly is an excellent guide who explained the structure and meaning of temples and Cham culture in a very clear way. It was interesting to visit My Son and we enjoyed it very much!
Thanks again mr. Ly

Very well organised company with a great English speaking guide, Sing.
Only 5 in our group which was organised through hotel reception at Riverside Hotel. We had a fast boat to two seperate snorkelling spots followed by lunch on a private beach with swimming swimming and relaxing. The water clarity and amount of fish and coral are not as good as Nha Trang, but still fun.
Great time, recommended.
