About
Hiking tour in the most scenic areas of North Central Vietnam, count around 3 hours overall for the tour; You will discover the most beautiful sites, from the mountains of Pray to the clear and fresh river of All Long far from any touristy sites. Start off with hiking (1 hour) then reward yourself with a good session of swimming and a typically Vietnamese barbecue and then back to hiking. Great tour to get back to shape and also perfect for the keen photographers.

We have just returned from spending an amazing day with Nico & Mo. Our family of five were picked up from our hotel at 830am and driven for about an hour out of the city to Brau (Ngam-Doi) mountain. After a refreshing drink, Nico and our party set out on a 3 hour hike, which included swimming stops at the bottom of stunning waterfalls. Parts of the hike included scrambling over rocks, so a certain level of fitness is required, although Nico was always there to help where needed. On returning we were treated to a delicious Vietnamese BBQ, beautifully prepared by Mo, that included delicious marinated pork & chicken, with salads, fruit & fresh bread rolls. They also arranged a vegetarian option for us too!! We had some time afterwards to lay in hammocks & swim in nearby rockpools.. We had an amazing day and would definitely encourage you to take this tour if you are looking to explore the stunning countryside outside of Hoi-An

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this day trip as it was far more relaxed than most tours can be. The hike over rocks and the river was great (although as nico said, would have been good to be a little longer). The scenery is beautiful and there are some great swimming spots. He then cooked us a bbq lunch and we could lay in hammocks and relax for the afternoon. Even the drive to the hike was a good experience and Nico pointed out some interesting things that tourists don't get to know about. He was lovely and we both had a great day.

We had a fantastic day with Nico hiking in the mountains. The scenery is stunning and the opportunity to swim in a natural pool under a waterfall was truly special. We happened to be the only two on the tour that day and it made it all the more special - no other tourists in sight for the first part of the day. The hike itself is not that long nor that challenging for experienced hikers, however you do need good footwear (preferably hiking boots but running shoes should be fine too) as there are some slippery parts. If you have no hiking experience you may find the hike a bit more challenging but Nico will help you. Also - you will get super sweaty (regardless of your fitness level) if you're hiking on a hot day. It's best to wear swimwear underneath (rather than trying to get changed behind a tree :) as there are opportunities for swimming and you will want to take them!

We took our time with frequent stops for photo opportunities and spent a fair bit of time swimming under the waterfall, and there was no prescribed timing for any of this, it was at your leisure which was great.

After the hike it was time for lunch and some relaxing in hammocks at Ngam Doi (I think) outdoor/picnic area by a stunning set of waterfalls and natural pools. You can swim here too before & after lunch. Lunch was a delicious bbq prepared by Nico. There were mainly local Vietnamese groups enjoying a day off at the picnic area, and one group of Western tourists too.

Overall we had a great day and would highly recommend the tour to anyone wanting to experience something a bit less touristy. Even the drive out is very scenic and you feel like you get to see a more authentic side of Vietnam. We thought the value was excellent as it was just the two of us, and the drive out there (50km) alone would have cost a fair bit. Lunch was very good and filling too. It was a full day with pick-up at 7:45 AM and return around 5:00 PM. Make sure to bring good footwear, swimwear & towel, sunscreen, plenty of water (I alone went through almost 3L...) and your camera. Thanks Nico!

Went on a trek with Nico yesterday with my hiking buddy Sarah. When we started we asked for a large water and instead Nico handed us 2 small ones. 15 minutes into the hike Nico and lady mate watched as Sarah's last water bottle dropped from her bag and floated down the river without offering her a new one or to turn back. Between the heat, fast pace, and lack of water breaks on the way down the mountain, I was dehydrated and overheated to the point that I was vomiting. Nico saves the best waterfall for the end where there is a sandwich made for you. I could not enjoy either due to my extreme dehydration which onset a crippling migraine. I'm shocked at the lack of compassion from the guide and his ill prepared attitude towards the heat and environmental factors. Sarah and I both walked away bleeding from the bush- I guess Nico usually brings a machete, but yesterday it was nowhere in sight. Also make sure if there are more than 2 people in your group he has a friend with him because had it not been for her I would have lost Nico on the way down as he sprinted to the end without waiting for us.

**I do not recommend this journey unless you come prepared with heavy duty hiking boots and your own supply of water and hydration methods. Also confirm price because even though I though his price was $40 he raised it to $50 because there were only 2 other people in our group.

****if you're looking for a small adventure try Hoi An Diving Center, we had a blast and only paid $40 for a full day on the ocean a 6 course meal ( putting Nico's baguette to shame) and given free snorkel gear for the day. Plus there were only about 10 people in the relaxed boat day making the trip comfortable and didn't make you feel like herded sheep like the ones in Halong Bay

Booked a trip for New Year's Day, was a struggle to get up so early but we really wanted to do the trek.
Waited out the front of our hotel for 45 minutes only to receive an email saying "the weather was not good" and the trek wouldn't be going ahead. The weather was the best we'd had in Hoi An so far, it was dry but not incredibly hot, perfect trek weather.
My guess he just partied a bit too hard the night before and couldn't be bothered.
An absolute disappointment and very unreliable.

Dear Biddyboo90, My sincere apologise for cancelling the trek. The tour is 60km from Hoi An in the mountain and the weather up there was extremely poor with heavy rain. During the monsoon season from September until January, the weather is unpredectable, although it may be sunny in Hoi An, it could be raining just 10 ks away. The trek becomes extremely challenging during heavy rain and honestly unsafe. Nevertheless, I should have given you more notice and I am really sorry you had to wait for us. I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday. Nico

Where should I start. They said it should be a private tour, two more people showed up. No discount offered even though promised on the website. We just randomly decided to pay less.
They said 1-1.5 hr drive, it was a bit more than 2 (but hey, it happens)
60% of the walk was on a muddy service road on a steep mountain under the sun without any shades with huge trucks driving by carrying cut trees. The whole area was heavily hit by deforestation. No nature in sight.
We were told we were doing the family trek (the other two had booked another tour including another hike and a visit to a village but hey, who's bothered to get another itinerary that you didn't pick with no possibility to contact the owner...I'm being ironic). The family track involved 2 hours of climbing up a river on slippery stones. A guy fell and hurt his leg. We were with a baby and a 3 years old and honestly, the French guy who owns the company told us this hike would be more suitable for us since it would be shorter. I'm not sure if he has a sound mind cause that hike was anything but easy, I had to climb while carrying my son most of the time, a couple of times the guide helped bus as soon as he was up a stone he would just let his hand go and go on her marry way, which is just irresponsible since a 3 years old just does whatever he pleases and there was just nothing keeping him to slip and fall down the rocks into the stream. I was very pissed but she thought it went well.
Whatever the reply of the owner will be, we are very experienced hikers and climbers, we did before and after that hard hikes with the children like two hikes in phong nha national park, the hard trail in cat ba national park, 3 times went on a 3 days trekking with the kids without ever having any problem. We have hiking boots, waterproof shoes, we had brought plenty of water with us. It felt like the guy just wanted to make money buy didn't really care much about the service offered.
Just don't go hike in hoi an, it's not the city for that.

We booked a 1-day tour with Nico (the guide) after finding his webpage with a description of the tour. The day turned out to be one of the best we had during our 2 week stay in Vietnam. The trip begins with a pickup at your hotel, you go an hour by car, and after a short break you trek for three hours, during you stopp a two mountain lakes where you can swim. Finally you have lunch, which Nico made. We saw no other tourist during our trip.

Overall, a fantastic day, beautiful nature, and a great guide. Can highly recommend

p.s. I did this trek without any previous experience, but would recommend bringing good shoes.

This was hands down the highlight of our trip so far. No other people had booked the tour this day so we had a private tour just the two of us. The trek was challenging but not too difficult and made swimming in the pristine waterfalls with no one else around so much more worthwhile! Nico was great and helped us through challenging parts of the hike. He also prepared a delicious lunch and catered so well for my vegetarian requirements. Definitely recommend if you have the time/money in Hoi an!

We nearly ran out of time to do this tour, but we're so glad we managed to squeeze it in before we left Hoi An. It was the best way to see the incredible mountain scenery - to trek through its 'paths' and across its crystal-clear rivers. We went on quite a wet day so it was slippery and challenging, but I'd highly recommend it for anyone up for the challenge!! Nico was a great guide. We loved swimming under the waterfall, and ending the long trek with a BBQ picnic and some time chilling in a hammock by the water.

Thanks Nico for an awesome experience we won't forget!

We really enjoyed our day hiking. It was great to see another side of Vietnam, a place where there are no other tourists and only a few locals. Our guide was amazing! Even though the river crossings were too high to cross because of the rain, he still found ways for us to continue on. The views we got to see were spectacular and the BBQ lunch we had was really delicious! Would highly recommend this day out to anyone.
