Got swindled which is part of the deal for being a tourist but the mark up for the items being offered by the vendors on the ground floor was 4 times the price right across the street.

I had a fairly quick visit to this small museum in Hoi An towards closing time. There were a few interesting displays of miscellaneous Vietnamese cultural material inside, nothing too exciting in itself. A short visit will probably be sufficient for most people unless this is really an area of interest.

The Museum of Folk Culture is in the heart of Hoi An's Ancient Town. It is accessed using one of the Ancient Town entrance tickets. The Museum is a 19th century house over two floors with displays of local items, notably materials. The lighting of the museum is low. The dark wood structure means it is not especially easy to... It's a good 30 minute walk around. You don't really need a guide as there are signs written on each artifact. Nice pieces of Hoi An culture and history, basically a general overview of the other places you will see around Hoi An.

This is one of the more interesting houses in the old town. Local family history and photos show the generations passing through. Next to the Japanese bridge it is easy to find.

If you want to experience a Vietnamese merchant's house just like it must have been 200 years ago you must visit this house. It only takes 20 minutes or so. Very nice wooden walls and ceilings. Goods for sale not too interesing. The house lies very centrally in the old town of Hoi An.

This museum is well worth a stop to learn more about local crafts and art styles. I was under the impression that this was ticketed as part of the Old Town ticket, however, no one checked and I was allowed to enter for free. The ground floor is dedicated to arts and crafts. When I went on a Sunday there... More
