Beautiful work and shop displays. Local traditional hats woven with hidden wording inside the hats. Hand made incense is fragrant and colourful. Attempt to make your own.

My friends and I stumbled across this lantern workshop on our way to dinner one evening and got talking to one of the lovely guys who worked there :).
We already decided that we wanted to do a lantern making course but just wasn't sure which place to go to as there are so many in Hoi An and it can be quite tricky to know which place to choose! We booked for the following day and had the best time!
We're so so warmly welcomed with a lovely cup of tea, and got started on making our lanterns. The lovely guys working there explained step by step- making everything very clear and helping us along the way. They were the friendliest most funny guys and spent the whole afternoon laughing! At the end of the afternoon my friends and I had made our lanterns which we were so pleased with! When we left we each got a little lantern keyring as a gift too which was really sweet. A fun, productive afternoon meeting so many lovely people from all around the world. The price was also really reasonable and I would highly reccomend!

Our group of 3 took a day trip from Da Nang to Hoi An for the full moon lantern festival. We took a lantern class at the Hoi An Handicrafts Workshop. What a beautiful space! We had so much fun with the staff (Tam!) and she walked us through each step. We were given a short history lesson on the lanterns and then made the bamboo structure and added the beautiful silk. They assisted us along the way so ours would turn out perfect. They have lots of pre-made lanterns for sale if you need any souvenirs. While the town was very touristy on that particular day, and a little much to handle at times, the lantern class was by far the highlight of the day! Highly recommended

We made it there just in time for the performance at 3.15. The artists are very good and talented and people can sit on little stools and watch the performance. Was a great show, not too long. Lots of things to buy, not overpriced. The lanterns were lovely. So was the pottery section where we could actually see a woman make pots on her potter's wheel. There were carved bamboo roots that were impressive. Also bought some very pretty hand made silver earrings. Enjoyed the visit.

Upstairs there is a display with real silk worms in the various phases of their life cycle in the production of silk. The children, aged 9,6 and 5 were fascinated. They helped feed the larger worms with mulberry leaves. They were amazed at how small the worms had become after spinning their cocoons, and enthralled that the worms are eaten by the people at the silk harvesting stage!
Many beautiful silk garments can be purchased also.

Our tour guide, Tommy Dao, recommended this stop. The location is not easy to find, but worth the Q&A to find it. The make lanterns, and crafts. The experience of meeting the owner, his employees and their ability to produce such intricate work, formed a lasting impression.

We very much enjoyed the traditional music and dance that is put on for tourists twice a day. However, if you are sitting near the front please be aware that when you use your phone or tablet to record or photograph the performance, not only is it very distracting for those sitting behind you but it can actually block their view.

We did this as the last clip on our Hoi An city ticket, and I think it was worth it. If you time it right you can see a cultural performance (singing and dancing) which was more enjoyable that I expected - actually, I would say it's worth the clip if you include the performance. It is essentially a big souvenier shop but at least you get to see them make the lanterns, pottery etc and the building is quite cool (go upstairs and have a nosy!).

When you are in Hoi An you wish you could stay for ever. Just walk around the streets and enjoy this magic little town. When it was near the New Lunar Year celebration so the streets were decorated with colourful lanterns and at sunset the multicoloured lights were reflected in the river.
It was absolutely beautiful. If I had the hance to go back to Vietnam I would definitely choose Hoi An to stay.
