Really enjoyed spending an hour making lanterns, it was only the two of us, and the lady we were with had very good English and worked hard to interact with us and teach us about her culture, it was very interesting we were just too focused on gluing our lanterns! Enjoyed the video about the project at the end, and... More

A great workshop learning how to make lanterns - small class (3 people) and our teacher spoke amazing English (the best I've heard from a Vietnamese person so far on our trip!) It was lovely to sit and chat about local life and customs as we made our lanterns. Also a very worthwhile project providing jobs to disabled and disadvantaged... More

Excellent class devoted to teaching newcomers some basic language & cultural guidance. The Foundation supports disadvantaged people to develop new skills; find housing; disabled people to obtain transport; provide education. A wonderful enterprise that is worth supporting.

We paid 15 USD to attend a hour long lantern making workshops. We chose it because apparently 100% of the cost went to sustaining the charity. The lantern it's self turned out nicely. Nice way to spend a hour and give back to local women's community. Keep expectations minimal and be prepared for a guilt trip video and meeting the... More

Thank you for choosing to do our lantern workshop. 100% of the money does support our charity work in the local community. Out of our 250 plus reviews your comments are the first of this kind, so I think that speaks volumes. Our customers have found our 3 minute video about our project work and the disabled makers who make... More

I spent a wonderful hour & a half making a lantern at Lifestart in Hoi An. Our teacher was fantastic! She spoke impeccable English having spent a year working in Melbourne. S Her instructions were clear and she helped us with any tricky bits so that we came away with a gorgeous lantern. In between our crafting she told us... More

After reading a few reviews and looking at a number of lantern making options I opted for Lifestart's workshop keen to support the foundation. My husband wasn't interested in the workshop making me a solo participant, however, for a reasonable price I was able to have a private workshop. I was unsure how that would be, perhaps too intense in... More

This is a lovely little gift shop that sells many goods made by the disadvantaged. We purchased quite a few things including Helen, the sock creature made by Nhung, a girl who contracted polio when she was 3. I think we will save this little stuffy for our future daughter/son when we have one 😍. We also purchased a few... More

The Lifestart Foundation is a non-profit making enterprise with the aim of helping disadvantaged Vietnamese people to obtain a better life and become self sufficient. As such, it is a very worthy cause to support. Upon entering the shop, you are greeted by one of the staff, who explains a little of the aim of the Foundation to you. This... More
