About
Thuan Tinh Island is a small isolated island, around 3.5 km far from Hoi An Ancient Town, on Thu Bon River. Thuan Tinh Island is an eco-friendly island rich in tropical foliage making it a beautiful place to cook, relax and then enjoy the dishes you've created, Thuan Tinh Island Cooking Tour. We organize daily cooking classes at Thuan Tinh Island: pick-up at the hotels in Hoi An area. You will make your first stop at the market to purchase some fresh and locally grown herbs, before joining a river boat ride in 30 minutes to Thuan Tinh for a relaxing meander through what has been officially recognised as an ecological zone. To visit the local Village, we take a row boat ride through the water coconut trees. We then walk through the gardens to visit a local family and snack on grilled rice cakes and iced tea. From there, we head back to our open-air cooking class overlooking the water coconut trees and river. Our chefs will show you how to make Vietnamese food while you enjoy the cool breeze and peaceful setting. That is much more than simply a cooking class as a journey to discover the eco island that makes you satisfied.

    Highly recommended cooking class.
We booked direct by WhatsApp with Nhi the night before for a morning class. The market visit is lively and informative. The coracle boat tour is tacky and should be omitted. The class is delivered in a peaceful rural setting and Nhi is an exceptional host and very good tutor. All the dishes are tasty, traditional and easy to master even for novices like us. We would highly recommend this cooking class.

had a lot of fun and made delicious food!
had so much fun meeting Nhi, going on the basket boat, and cooking! Nhi's english is great, easy to understand and she has a bubbly fun personality. she has her schtick down. shopped at the market for our ingredients. then we went on a basket boat ride (which did not take us to the island, or have anything to do with the class but it was fun. annoyingly you could tell the rowers were expecting tips, that was sort of cheesy. we were then driven a very short distance to the cooking area. Nhi showed us how to do it and then we did it ourselves. everyone had their own little burner and bunch of ingredients. everything we made was delicious and "authentic" Vietnamese. there are many cooking class choices in Hoi An and this is a great choice!

    A MUST DO !
This is a MUST DO while visiting Hoi an. We were picked up from our hotel promptly in the morning and taken to meet our guide and chef at the markets. Wandering with Nhi to buy the ingredients needed for our cooking class. She gave us an insight to prices and explained different herbs and gave us samples. It was truly eye opening seeing all the fresh seafood and meat being chopped and cut up . Back on the bus out to meet our guides for the basket boat ride . So much fun the guides they made it a very entertaining experience with a chance to fish like a local for crabs. From there we were taken to a local village past the wondering chooks & ducks to our kitchen for the next 2 hours, a rustic thatched open air space. We cooked 4 dishes it was all very organised, well prepared & the demonstrations by Nhi were great. Extremely fresh, tasty & flavoursome menu photos to follow.

    Wonderful for our family!
My family of four had a wonderful day with Nhi! My 12yo daughter, 9yo son and 50yo husband all had a fantastic time, learning new skills and trying new food. Nhi was particularly fun and interesting to have as a guide. We would thoroughly recommend this class for anyone looking for a lovely day in a peaceful setting.

    WONDERFUL!
What a great experience! Be sure not to miss this when you are in hỏi ăn - hands down the best thing we did while we were here. You'll shop at the market and take a boat ride before learning to cook 4 Vietnamese dishes. Show up hungry and leave full. Definitely a highlight of our travels through Vietnam. (If you are having difficulty figuring out how to book - we messaged through WhatsApp and got an immediate response)

    Great cooking class
The afternoon cooking class was a great experience. First we bought fresh ingredients at a market to process them at Nhi's later. The dishes were pre-cooked by her husband and then we were allowed to cook them ourselves with the help of the two. The two are super nice and sent us the recipes afterwards. Since we are both vegetarians, we cooked extra vegetarian dishes that day. It was super tasty and an absolutely beautiful day with the two of us, we were lucky that that day the cooking class that afternoon consisted only of us. We would do it again anytime.

    The best cooking class
This was a fantastic experience! We had a wonderful time with the class and made 4 wonderful dishes. First we went to the market to get our ingredients for the lunch. Then we took a fun boat ride and my son caught a crab. We then made the dishes and they were all delicious. Better than in the restaurants ! Our teachers were a husband and wife team who were really fun and helpful and inspiring!

Cannot recommend this tour more highly. Our instructor, Trang, spoke excellent English and talked our small group through all instructions, effectively, for this 3 hr cooking class. My partner and I were collected from our homestay just across the bridge in Hanoi at exactly the time where we were instructed and driven a short trip to our boat. There we were taken to the island on a serene river where the ducks frolicked. I’m aware that the duration of the class meant that we were not independently cooking every single step, instead, Trang ensured that all 7 of us in the class, participated equally and contributed to the creation of all 5 dishes that we made. If you want a step-by-step experience then I suggest you select another, longer class that the school also has to offer, but this was perfect for what we wanted - ‘a short course’. The class went quickly (an indicator we were having a good time) and before we knew it we were sitting beneath the beautiful lanterns, on dusk, sharing the fruits of our labour. Some of the best food I’ve eaten since being in Vietnam. Thanks Trang!

We enjoyed an excellent half-day cooking experience here with chef Hon. We were picked up from our hotel in a minibus at 0800. We joined a small group (7 in total) for a trip to the market where Hon bought the items we would later cook. There was a motor boat ride to the island, another short boat trip on a punt to the kitchen and then cookery classes and eating our cooking :-) We we’re dropped back at our hotel 1300.

Before we went to the market Hon explained the menu and asked about allergies or preferences. We explained we were vegetarian which didn’t seem to phase Hon at all. Hon explained his way around the market, pointing out the different produce. He picked up tofu and eggplant for vegetarian options. The cooking was mostly show and then do, although we just observed Hon preparing the stock for the Pho we assembled later. Limited cooking skills required, just basic chopping and frying. The individual food preparation and cooking stations made it feel personal. The instructions were simple to follow in English language and a helping hand or advice if wanted. Other staff prepared the ingredients and tidied up as we went, which was super helpful.

This was an enjoyable way to spend a morning and learn some skills to take home with us. The recipe book and ‘cooking chopsticks’ gift was a nice touch at the end. Recommended if you are looking for something similar. Lots of places in Hoi An offer cookery classes. The extras here and attention to the whole morning of activity made it a stand-out experience.

We were fortunate to have Chef TinTin. She is a wonderful chef, instructor, market negotiator and teacher. She ran the entire class effortlessly-from pickup to boat ride, then allowed class to cook Vietnamese food after her easy instructions. Who knew we all could cook with fire??? One dish was set ablaze to caramelize the beef. She only offered help at the market. Otherwise, we all left as capable one dish chefs!!

Outdoor classroom was neat and tidy. All staff were polite and professional.

This is a delightful tour. -WORTHY!

Trang was an awesome guide and chef. We had a short boat ride through the water coconut river to the house where we cooked our meal. Trang did a great job of leading our small group through the steps to cook 5 traditional Vietnamese meals. All the food was tasty and we even got a cook book to take home and try! Great little class for the price. Thank you Trang!

We had the best cooking class in Hoi An with Nhi! She’s so nice and friendly. We went to the market in the morning (which is an amazing experience bcs it’s not something for tourists but for local people!) and we bought everything for the cooking class. She explained all the things we were buying and she selected the best ingredients: meat, shrimps, vegetables, herbs. We then move with a tiny boat to the island where the class take place and we start our experience doing the broth; then we did the Goi Cuon (fresh spring rolls), the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese crepe), Bun Bo nam Bo (noodles salad with beef) and the typical and delicious Pho Bo (beef noodle soup!).
Nhi was so good teaching us all the secrets of these receipts! I definitely recommend this tour if you come to Hoi An.

This is the best cooking class I’ve taken. We had such a fun time and our chef, Sunny, was joy to cook with! I would recommend this if you have a few hours and want to enjoy some delicious local food. And as a surprise, we were given our own chopsticks for cooking with and a recipe book of everything we made :)

Tin Tin was excellent in guiding us into The secrets of Vietnamese Cooking! Especially we liked fresh spring rolls and crispy pancakes. Also noodle salad and noodle beef soup were good but already quite known as we cook these regularly at home. We do recommend this cooking class.

From the first chapter of the day - a fascinating shopping trip to the bustling central market - through to the creation of some fab Vietnamese delights (all eaten as soon as we cooked them) our lovely guide Vy smiled, educated and encouraged us along. A relaxed, varied and friendly day - we really enjoyed it and would highly recommend. Thank you Vy!

Ôi trời ơi! From start to finish, Thuan Thin Island Cooking Tour was spectacular. We were picked up in the morning at our hotel by our bright and bubbly host Nhi, and then taken through the local markets to collect the freshest ingredients for our tour. We are so glad we got to go in the morning, to see the bustling markets in full swing. After we finished shopping we went on a quick boat ride and got acquainted with the other members of our tour, before another quick bus ride to the kitchen where we would get started with one of the best cooking experiences we've had.

Nhi was funny, informative, and clear with her instructions and demonstrations. She walked us through what we were going to cook, showed us how to do it, and then set us loose to make ours. She was everywhere, helping us cook and make delicious creations under her watchful eye.

We started with Healthy Spring Rolls (Goi Cuon), followed by a Vietnamese crepe (Bahn Xeo), then Beef and noodles with jus (Bun Bo) and finally a Beef Pho (Pho Bo) to end the tour. We even got to try our hand at flipping the crepes (some more successful than others!) and learned how to flambe!

The food was delicious, fresh, and so rewarding watching it come together. We walked away with full bellies and new techniques on how to cook that we can take home with us, as well as a great memory and experience to commemorate our trip. We cannot recommend Nhi highly enough.

I highly recommend doing this tour! It was such a nice afternoon starting with a boat ride to the beautiful location. Tintin is absolutely the best, she is so nice and really made us laugh all the time. The food was so delicious and she even adjusted the meal plan for us (because we’re vegetarians). We even got a super nice gift at the end! Dinner under the lamps was so great! 10/10 recommendation!!
