After a bit of a false-start we had a great trip with the excellent driver Mr. Phu and guide Mr. Giang. My traveling partner and I were not comfortable with our first guide but the company were very responsive and made the trip work for us. Mr Giang was affable, patient, and very knowledgeable. We are not athletes but were game for the trip and Mr Giang found the best routes, added some sight seeing, took us through beautiful farms, jungles, mountains, and rural areas on our 6 day bike ride to Hoi An. My travel companion has food allergies which were accommodated without censure. There were lots of snacks, bottled water, cool cloths when we stopped provided by the ever cheerful Mr. Phu. Highly recommend this outfit for any of their activities - I know they'll work with you to make the trip what you want.

If I could give more stars I would. We absolutely loved the tour from hoi an to the My Son Sanctuary. We had the pleasure of having Mike as a tourguide and he is the best. We had a bike malfunction in the beginning and he got a new one. The pace was good and we biked a lot in the nice and quiet streets and not in the main road. We had plenty of time to take pictures and also the visit at my son was at the perfect time as it was not packed with tourgroups. I would have done another tour with them if I could have the chance. Hopefully we come back one day to try the other tours with Mike. Thanks for the great time!
Due note that it is quiet a bike ride, so I would not recommend this tour when you are not comfortable on a bicycle.

We enjoyed the bike tour from Da Lat to Nha Trang very much. Great view, quiet route and our guide taught us a lot about Vietnam. The food was prepared very warmly. My recommendation: skip the minivan to Nha Trang and go by bike. This way you can enjoy the view, stop if you want and don't get any problems with the sickness in the bus.

I went for a half-day's abseiling with a friend, and we had the 2 instructors just to ourselves. We were picked up from our hotel at 8:30am and dropped back at about 1:30pm. As there were just the 2 of us, we had time to do 5 descents in total: 2 x 15m descents, 2 x 25m descent and 1x 55m descend. The descents took us into the caves of the mountain as well as the rock face on the outside of the mountain. We were given cold bottled water during the day and a yummy fresh lunch. We also had time for sightseeing in the caves at the mountain itself. All in all, it was awesome experience! I had never done it before, and am even scared of heights(!), but the instructors were brilliant, they gave us full instruction and safety briefing, and we had an exhilerating time. I would highly recommend the company.

We had the most amazing day abseiling with Phat Tire. Ting picked us up at our hotel in a private car, water was provided and lunch too (veggie options too) There were three drops. The first two we did twice which was great. Drop one was into a cave, drop two down the mountain rock face and drop three into a 55 metre cave called Hell cave which was a truly fantastic experience. We also had plenty of time to look around and take pictures and Ting showed us around the caves. We were looked after very well by our guides and safety was excellent. This was a truly special way to see the marble mountains and we would definitely recommend :)

Have been using their services twice, once for a 2-day trek around Dalat with some kayaking, and in 2011 the 5-day cycling trip from Dalat to Hue. Truly professional guides, good English spoken, flexible to the wishes to the customer, good quality equipment . If you want to know what Vietnam has to offer besides the top-advertised attractions and "must-sees" then Phat Tire Ventures is a sure bet :)

We spent a few days in Hoi An and were told about Phat Tire Ventures by a friend who had gone on a caving/rappelling trip with them. Intrigued, we signed up for the same tour - we were not disappointed!

We were picked up in a nice, clean car with A/C, introduced to our 2 guides and given a brief overview of what we would do for the day and some history regarding the area we were visiting. Once on site, we were given step-by-step instructions on our equipment and taken through several runs on a small slope on how to rappell. We had a great time and felt that we were in great hands regarding our safety. The last drop (over 50 meters) was amazing and it was great watch the others rappell down.

Lunch was simple, fresh and plentiful and we were given plenty of water. We also enjoyed that they let us go our own pace and we never felt rushed. Wonderful trip with wonderful guides - highly recommend it!

I did the Hoi An to Hue ride with a car ride back to Hoi An after the ride.

Really hot day, but was a great ride. Cold drinks at the top of the Hai Van pass were well earned and our guides and support truck kept us topped up with cold water throughout the ride.

Most of the riding was on quiet roads, the traffic was ok and we avoided the busy roads by taking car rides to the best places to ride on the way, as a result we didn't ride the whole way from Hoi An to Hue. I was glad of this as the traffic in Vietnam is pretty crazy so we could save energy for the nicer roads in the countryside.

The bikes were decent, brakes worked and gears were ok. Slick tires were a good choice for this type of riding. The two guides we had were friendly and spoke good english.

It was a great way to see the countryside and get away from the usual tourist routine.

Don't sit on a tour bus wth a bunch of random travelers to go to My Son! Phat Tires does an excellent 45km mountain bike tour to the temples, taking you through unseen rural communes and the scenic Vietnamese countryside with its endless rice fields and farm land.

Our guide, Tinh, was great. Not only was he professional, ensuring we knew what to expect and how to operate the mountain bikes but he was also great fun, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

While it was a relatively flat route, it certainly was a tough bike ride especially in the burning August sun but well worth the effort. You don't need to be ultra fit however, be prepared to push yourself (if anything, it will be the hard bike seats that will get you if you're not used to it!). A tip would be to let your guide know upfront how far you want them to ride in front of you... generally, they will ride quite a length in front, which may make it harder to give them a shout out if you really need a break.

I was a little over zealous with the pedals in the last few hundred meters and fell off my bike going down a gravel hill, badly hurting my ankle. Thankfully, the support car was not far away (it's a car ride on the way back to Hoi An). Tinh and the driver were great, stopping at three different restaurants to try to find some ice, helping to bandage it, carrying me on/off car etc.

Overall, it was a most rewarding way to see My Son (despite the fall!) and an adventure to be had in Hoi An. Phat Tires are a great company - professional and trustworthy . Take a look at their website for other activities and adventures... we had also done a hike with them in Dalat and thoroughly enjoyed that too.

(On a side note, Phat Tires can also arrange airport transfers to/from Danang airport for USD18. This was certainly cheaper than arranging it through the hotel, and definitely a lesser headache than trying to take a taxi!)

I had 3 wonderful days touring with the the Hoi An group (Thao was a super guide) and one day from Dalat down to Nha Trang. First was the awesome trip from Hoi An to the My Son temples. We went on the back roads through small villages, rice paddies, and fishing areas. Very interesting and fun to see how locals live and work every day. The temples were truly amazing. The route generally flat. Next was the two-day excursion from Hoi An (actually started biking near Danang). The ride took up up over Hai Van pass (10k up the hill but switchbacks made it not so tough) and great views along the way of the ocean and waterfalls. Then down the hill to a nice lunch, and on through more back roads with fishing villages. We stayed at Lanc Co resort, which is 4 star but seemed rather desolate (maybe because it was off season and not too many guests); my preference would have been for a home stay or something with a more local flair but I'm sure this was the best accomodation in the area. Next day on towards Hue, we rode through many villages on backroads... this is the way to see Vietnam! Afterwards, I headed back with the bike van from Hue to HoiAn, stayed a couple more days there, and then flew from Danang to Dalat. Next day I took to the Phat Tire ride from Dalat to NhaTrang on a fairly new road. Most of the ride was down hill. It rained a bit near the highest elevations, but cleared-up as we decended to open some great views of the mountains and valleys. Take some rain gear with you. The van took me right to my hotel. I recommend Phat Tires... great people, knowledgeable and friendly, good equipment, and excellent and safe routes (avoided highway 1).
