The architecture, street design and art all reflects the struggle between the Portuguese & Spanish during their several hundred year war, interesting that they could never live together. The view of the River if Gorgeous from here.

this whole area is nice to wander around it. There's lot to look at in Colonia, including places to eat, shops, and galleries.

Nice rocky street, short in distance, with really old looking houses. A nice walk-through when you are in this part of town.

The alley itself is nice showpiece of the most oldest building style of the city, with its cobblestones and small houses. However, it is seen in 10-15 minutes, so you should plan also roaming in the other parts of the old town, or seeing other sights as well on one trip to make it worth the travel.

Here is were you take your picture! This little street is charming, and decadent, but gives you the feeling of how the city looked like at its foundation. Enter the gallery and small restaurant, its wort it!

Good history of why it's called that way. There were brothels in that street. There's a good place to eat cheese and buy lots of goodies.

The historical street is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a living reminder of the Colonial times. An absolute must to visit while in Uruguay.

To best appreciate this historical "Street of Sighs", imagine yourself transported back to colonial times. Several legends account for the street’s name, one is gory and violent; one romantic and violent; one involves lonely sailors looking for company; and one involves the sound of the wind . This typically Portuguese street is narrow and cobblestoned, lined with restaurants, art galleries... More

La Calle de Los Suspiros is a must see while in Colonia del Sacramento, which literally translated into English means Street of Sighs. There are several legends of why this street has that name, but the story that most people consider is the true story of this picturesque narrow street with cobblestones is that it was the spot where the...
