Walking around Colonia is the best way to see the town. This little alley takes the cake for peaceful streets to meander. The old architecture and cobble stone streets add significantly to the ambiance. The boutique shops also add to the allure. In my opinion,...More

This small street has some of the most historical houses of Colonia del Sacramento. It is so peaceful and magic that it's almost like traveling in time! Look for Buen Suspiro a cheese and wine bar at the top of the street to your right...

This is what I would call the hidden gem. This nice little alley offers special atmosphere. There are boutique shops on each side, check them out.

A small narrow street, without sidewalks and paved in the typically Portuguese way, with wedge stones. Located near Plaza Mayor, it keeps a practically intact colonial style. Formerly called Ansina street, the Street of the Suspiros is one of the main attractions of the city...More

It's lovely to walk around the historic area of town. This old street shows the different construction style with cobblestones and central drain. Lined with lovely old buildings, it's a great spot for a coffee or meal.

This street was constructed by the Portuguese and still retains it's original cobbled pavement. A drain runs through the middle of the street. The houses on either side date from the first colonial period. The street has been listed as a World Heritage Site by...More

While the rest of the area is definitely up to date, a wander up this short street gives a feeling of how old Colonia really is.

This is the hilly street that has been best kept as it would have looked in colonial times with fine views to sea.

This street is short and the span of interest here is also. A couple of shops and a couple of bar- restaurants grace its slope to Rio de La Plata. The rough stone surface of the street dips to the middle to provide a waterway...More

Once in Colonia you must come to this street. It's a beautiful and rustic street. A perfect spot for good shots! When I visited there was a musician playing guittar (busking) what made a even better atmosphere.
