You get to see the entire historic district from above, plus the water. The top level of the structure is not very comfortable, very narrow, and gets overloaded with visitors. The medium level is probably better. If you are lucky, you can even find yourself alone there and really enjoy the view. Sometimes there are long cues downstairs to this... More

Colonia del Sacramento is a great place to relax and enjoy the views and small streets of the historic old town. There are a few small museums, a little shopping street, and a lot of restaurants and guesthouses/hotels. Most people who come to the town will probably do so on day-trips or overnight stays between Montevideo and/or Buenos Aires, so... More

If u make it to Colonia definitely stop by the lighthouse. When we were there it did nit open till 2:30 in the afternoon. So we walked around the town again and stopped for lunch. The climb up is long and the very top u climb a ladder but worth the exertion. Th view from the top is spectacular. It... More

The lighthouse is in more senses than one the highlight of Colonia de Sacramento. There is a great view both over the town and the river, and you can see the highrises in Buenos Aires from the top.

My wife and I enjoyed this perspective of Colonia! It was fun and only 28 Uruguayan pesos at the time (2016). If you go to Colonia you need to see this.

A small price to pay to enter this lighthouse, small ladders, complicated pass with many people but a nice view when arrived to the top.

This is a must- visit in Colonia. For a couple of coins you can go up to the top of this lighthouse to take the most amazing panoramic pictures of Colonia city and landscape. On a clear day you can see Buenos Aires city in the horizon as well. Over 100 steps narrow stairs, seriously not recommented for elders or... More
