It is not a very old church; so I was mistaken. Still is well made and simple. Attracts lots of Catholics who live in the region. Nice to see tolerance in society.

The original St. Michael’s Church was opened in 1971 by The late Fr. Barnabas, an Italian priest belonging to the Franciscan Order, who was a dear family friend when he was previously based in Bahrain where I grew up. I have heard the original church and a later version were really small venues but then the Catholic Population in Sharjah was far lesser in number. The present premises were inaugurated in 1997 - a lovely exterior and planned over two levels inside. The Church is located in a fairly quiet part of Sharjah where churches of other denominations are also based. Reasonable parking is available but public transport is lacking - taxis being the only option if one doesn’t drive. We visited St. Michaels this morning after several years for Mass. Our previous visit was to attend a friend’s memorial service when we gathered downstairs after Mass to offer condolences to the bereaved family. Daily masses are held here and weekly masses are also held in 8 languages to cater to the multicultural Catholics now living in Sharjah / The UAE.…

Being a catholic I go there every week once. It is in that hour a sense of peacfullness washes over me. I always feel calm after exiting the church.

The first time I visited the church and participated in its service was in November 1984 and at that time I was alone, no family member with me. Compared to the current structure, the old one at its past location was small, the size of a small warehouse. It could accommodate only hundreds of parishioners while the rest had to stay outside while following the services, a small sacrifice for God. Today, although not a cathedral, the structure is impressive and definitely a house of worship. It isn't primarily meant to be a tourist destination. It's God's house with many different ministries helping all the priests to maintain its holiness and sanctity. The parishioners help in keeping the area spotless clean while thousands attend its services the whole day, mornings and evenings, during holydays of obligation. The sacraments are always available including the sacrament of penance. I love you Lord, I I thank you, I praise you and I'll follow you everyday of my life in the name of your only begotten Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. now and forever.…

In a strict Emirate like Sharjah stands a catholic church, St. Michael;s Catholic Church. It is a very nice church that can be easily accessed through taxi. Different masses at different times.
