This was a beautiful day out with the family. So much to see. The flamingos were a sight to see. There are a variety of animals and reptiles to see. I would suggest going in the morning as when it gets dark, you won’t be able to see the animals. Affordability is plus as well.

This place is on the Dhaid road away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai and Sharjah. It is an amazing place which explains the evolution of the planet and specifically the desert region. The concepts put together are excellent and one of the best places to visit on a weekend.

Great place the park is divided to:
1. Breeding Centre for Endangered Arabian Wildlife: a small outside walk with some birds and animals very pleasant for younger kids
2. Arabian wildlife center: some sort of a mini zoo with a decent collection of animals and a resturant overlooking the wild open area where you can see a lot of animals and birds ( ostriches, oryx, birds)
3. Islamic botanic gardens: it shows the vegetating and fruits that are mentioned in the Quran and their benefits. The concept is very good and the structure of the building is just amazing.
4. Natural history museum: tells the history of time and sharjah including some skeletons made for recycled items from the park staff.

The park cost 15dirhams (less than 10 USD) for adults and free for children less than 12 years, It can be a 3-4 hours outing, the place is very well maintained and have cleans facilities. The Islamic botanic gardens have a very clean changing area for nappies.

Highly recommended for families with younger children who are looking to get away from the shopping malls!!!!

The place is just 20 minutes from Dubai away and a great way to learn about the wildlife of the UAE. The entry fee is only 10 AED per person but it has much to offer. You can walk through an indoor park on a learning path. Alos there is a petting zoo for the little ones which is outdoor just next to it. Can only recommed this place!

Sharjah Historical museum is a part of the Desert park, which is situated on al dhaid road near to interchange no 9. In one gate pass (Aed 15) we could cover historical museum and Arabian wildlife center.

Need to say, the museum and surroundings are kept well for the visitors. You are not supposed use cameras inside the facility. Museum is surrounded by beautiful lush green grass carpet, which will surely impress you a lot. Kids will be having a really great time here..

When you enter the museum, you will notice a few stuffed animals and birds without proper title and info. Then you will be forwarded to a hall, where you see working model presentation of deserts, day and night in deserts, flow of sand by wind etc. Then you enter to a chamber where they exhibited evolution of earth, history of planet, changes in earth crust, types of earth soils, continental drifts, first life on earth etc. There was a separate hall to exhibit Arabian marine life too.

We could cover the botanical garden also, which is attached to the historical museum. The desert park will close by 6 PM in the evening.

This park has 4 sections:
Children’s farm, Islamic garden, museum and the zoo.
The children’s farm is perfect for children to interact with the animals and learn at the same time. The animals are well looked after. There’s supervision of children by parents and staff during their interaction with the animals. Hand washing areas are provided.
The Islamic garden has all the plants that are mentioned in the holy Quran - there is information about the plants their uses. There’s an indoor and an outdoor area for the plants.
The museum has a lot of historical facts about Sharjah and the UAE.
The zoo is huge and there are all kinds of insects, birds, small and big animals. It is the one section that takes up most of your time. The animals are very well looked after with plenty of space for them to roam. A lot of effort has been made to replicate as much of their natural environment as possible.
There’s an outdoors area with ostriches, goats, bisons, ducks, flamingos etc that one can see through a large glass window of the restaurant. An excellent way to sit down and relax and watch the animals being fed - if you are lucky. The restaurant serves snacks and meals - all very reasonably priced.
It is a little bit out of the way and having a car would be recommended.
Would recommend for all, especially for families with children. Excellent value for money. Can easily spend all day here.

For AED 15 per ticket you get to enter five halls detailing life on earth since the beginning of time. There are displays of fossils, meteorites, taxidermic animals and desert ecosystems, along with a Islamic botanical garden. Wild Life center for the animals/birds that lived in the region which is so so beautifully maintained. Great fun for family and kids especially the Children’s Farm where your little ones will enjoy feeding some pets like goats, sheep, horses, donkeys and hens.

Sharjah Zoo is not to dissimilar to Abu Dhabi Zoo. the key factor is that its designed with the climate in mind. mostly indoors so that its comfortable while doing the tour. the zoo is designed in a way that you have close proximity to the animals for viewing.

Sharjah zoo is unique in that it offers mostly local endemic species. and feeds onto the back of the desert park.

It is extremly interesting to see how rich is the desert fauna..The zoo shows lizards, frogs, foxes, birds, even the very rare or now disappered in the wild, arabic wolves, arabic cheetah etc. It would be great if the UAE could invest more money in protecting, reintroducing these great animals as they did for the oryx..
The rest of the visit, Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden is a bit more boring. The museum is really made for children who want to understand the basics of chemistry, physics and natural history. The botanical Garden has opened this year and the plants need to grow
