i just love this centre. Maraya showcases amazing artwork with a focus on regional talents. the space is pretty good for workshops too. it hosts a variety of talks beyond art topics - entrepreneurship, culture, fashion...etc

Visit their Contemporary Art Gallery that caters International, UAE-based,and Emirati emerging artists works
Come and visit the Gallery from 10:00 a.m -7:00 p.m Saturday - Thursday,
4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday.
Admission is free for the gallery.

I had heard a lot about Maraya Art Centre in Sharjah's new cultural hub, Al Qasba and with great expectations, visited the place in December. The centre is housed in a beautiful, graceful building and I was quite intrigued to see their rich art collection. Entry is free.
However, once inside, I was sorely disappointed. Not only is the centre rather small, there were one 3 artworks on display. Also, there was no illumination; there was no staff to help or guide me; I ended up getting wet in one of the exhibits. Compared to the Art Museum or the SAF galleries, this was a really disappointing experience. I was in and out within 10 minutes, where I expected to spend at least an hour.

Sitting at the entrance of the Al Qasba complex in Sharjah, this art centre is the only (almost, actually there's also the giant whee Eye of the Emirates) open attraction on Sundays. I discovered with some astonishment that National Museum are closed all the day on Sundays, while open at least 2 hours in the evening. So get in this building and reach the second and third floor, where you can enjoy some temporary exhibitions. Actually not so much worth to see, exept one beautiful picture by Lara Baladi.

A step away. Ample free parking in the sand opposite the building.
Very quiet and visited by a few who have interest in what's on display.
If on a short trip I may not add this [place to my list unless what;s on display interests me. However, if the Al Qasba is one of your stops, a quick look would not hurt you.

Spectacular view at night! The walk along the river on a moonlight night is really an experience! Lots of restaurants to choose from.
