My boyfriend and me were picked up by a Toyota RAV4 car on time around 2 pm. The driver was okay, however we didn't get any info of him what is expecting us on the tour today. The safari tour was a bit short but pretty fun.
After we arrived at the camp, we saw several poor camels which were exploited in a tiny space next to the camp. We could do 2 min riding camel for free, but it hurt us to see how they were forced to go on their knees so often for a mass of tourists which were so crazy to take a photo. So, we rejected that.
After we went in the camp, where we got some instructions about the drinks and dinner later, but mainly the guy wanted us to book a VIP table for 100 AED per person (which we didn't make because we thought that queuing on food is a not a problem for us). After getting some water, we went to have a walk in desert. The dunes were nice, and they seemed to be cleaned regularly. The promised sandboarding was pretty much a joke: the condition of the board is alright, but it had no wax for us and without this you can't slide down the dunes. On the top of that, if you want to go to the higher dunes for a proper sandboarding experience, it can be life-dangerous because safari cars crossed them at the same time. There was no guide or trainer who could assist us in this matter. Having sanboarding as a main reason coming to desert, we've been already disappointed by the tour. When we wanted to pick up some tea or coffee which were available after 5 pm, to take a cup and enjoy a beautiful sunset, we saw huge lines of people and refused drinking it. After sunset, we came back to the camp to use the toilets: it was disgusting to stand there because it already stank 10 meters before you got in. Some sinks were broken and some toilet cabins were full of water on the ground. When we were ready after washroom to eat, we didn't see any stalls with starter because it was already too late to take it and it was cleaned up. We stayed hungry until 7 pm and couldn't enjoy the show on the stage. Without sitting any minute at the table, we were ready at 6:30 to be the first in line to take our dinner.
But when the stalls got open, mass of hundreds of people ran over each other and you could say almost fight for grabbing some food. The organisers just starred at it and shouted: 'Don't run!' There was no safety provided, there were no rules about bringing some order. Before you could enter a little tent with buffet, you had to pass a non-lighted path. As the people were rushing onto the tent, some fell down. People started to stomp on the lying people, some because they didn't care others because they saw it too late or were pushed by the people behind them.
I actually lifted up one man, just to find a terrified girl, which was crying, right under him.
I almost fell down myself by keeping people from further stomping on them. It was really one of the worst experiences in my life.
After this experience we canceled our booking for an overnight stay there and went home. At least we got a partial refund... don't recommend to go there. Especially, not on overcrowded holidays.
