It was extremely hot outside and so the cool was more than welcome. Parking is available just at the entrance. The entry fee is only 5 aed. The space and artifacts are well maintained. The ticketchecker was more than helpful telling us what else to see and visit.

There isn't much to see in the museum mostly from the ruins. The display and the explanations are done well. The space is well organised so that you do a complete round getting in and out of the lovely wooden doors.

Some sections had been closed off for renovation. The fort and the upper view are good for a one time visit. We had small kids with us and they enjoyed looking at the displays and taking pics with the wooden boats.

Fascinating small, local museum in a fort that used to serve as the residence of the rulers. Lots of historical artifacts and details. The local guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. I am glad that this museum was on my RAK tour.

Full of history and archeological displays. A guided tour is must to understand the ancient findings from RAK.

Having family visiting us in Ras al Khaimah we decided to take them out to discover something more authentic than just the modern buildings and attractions in Dubai. It was nice for a change but the museum is not worth the trip if you don't live in the area.
Only a few rooms can be visited one of which is packed with different type of shells, which is relatively un-impressive unless you are particularly fond of the subject.
Few artefacts are on display and the fortress itself, that used to be the Ras al Khaimah ruling family residence, cannot be thoroughly visited.
I don'r regret the visit but I won't add it to my guests "must-do list".

I’m going to try to be positive. The museum was open, it was cheap to enter ( although I thought it was free) less than £1 sterling so negligible. There really wasn’t much to see it was being “improved” when we visited so some of the rooms were inaccessible. What you could access was repetitive and nothing you couldn’t find walking along a beach almost anywhere. There had clearly been a leak at some point with paint peeling off the walls. No signs telling you which way to go, you literally walk around pushing random doors hoping they open. Staff not really friendly or helpful sitting around on entry a little put out they’d got customers! When leaving asked where to get a taxi from, just pointed out to the street (38 degrees), no offer to call a taxi from the phone next to you then!! Very disappointing, not really worth a visit, if you like museums you will be disappointed. Sorry!

The museum was an actual house of the ruling leader till 1960's as per the guide. This gives you an idea of how the locals lived and gives you an overview of the arab culture.

I was hoping, after many good reviews, this would be an interesting place to visit.

DO NOT GO until 2021 at the earliest !!

The attached pictures show virtually everything there. This is a fort that may be steeped in history, but as it's being renovated, making it look brand new and therefore lacking in character, there's very little to see. 5 Dirhams entrance fee on top of the hour drive made this a very disappointing visit. Odd manikins at the entrance showing traditional Arab dress seemed to be the highlight. A couple of rooms had a few artifacts but overall very little to see there.
Such a shame as this ' museum ' had been heavily exaggerated and I therefore expected more

Museum is small but info in it is interesting. Gives insights of RAK history ( pearl diving, inhabitants, variety of shells, fort architecture)
