Good, small local museum
Jul 2021
It was well worth a visit despite the heat. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Most of the exhibit areas were air conditioned, a relief as the outside temperature was 40+C.

Good well maintained space
Jul 2021 • Family
It was extremely hot outside and so the cool was more than welcome. Parking is available just at the entrance. The entry fee is only 5 aed. The space and artifacts are well maintained. The ticketchecker was more than helpful telling us what else to see and visit.

There isn't much to see in the museum mostly from the ruins. The display and the explanations are done well. The space is well organised so that you do a complete round getting in and out of the lovely wooden doors.

Some sections had been closed off for renovation. The fort and the upper view are good for a one time visit. We had small kids with us and they enjoyed looking at the displays and taking pics with the wooden boats.

Make sure you get a guide

At the entrance they offer free guiding tours (and they are free for real, they don’t accept any tip at the end) with a local.

The flavour of the visit changes radically when accompanied by the stories about the place and what each corner of what used to be the emir’s palace was meant for.

A visit to history
May 2021
It was surprising that pearl diving was very common in history of Ras Al Khaimah. The museum is not big but good to pay a visit and try to learn the heritage of the locations I visit.

Good Place to learn History of RAK
Feb 2020 • Couples
A really nice small little museum that has been established inside an old fort. The museum gives you an great insight in to the histroy of RAK starting from as back as 5000 BC. The best part is that despite being in a very old building, the musuem is 100% accesible with ramps for all stairs as well as to go on the second floor. A few areas of the musuem are still under development yet there is plenty to see.
The rooftop view is oretty nice and you can get a nice burds eye view of RAK.
The staff is very nice, courteous, and very helpful. The tour is ended with a complimentary Arabian coffee.
Parking is plenty and very convenient. The Google Maps however keeps on sending you in loops so just look at the map once and make sense as to where the entrance is.

Disappointing😣

A nice place, but hardly any exhibits worth the name. One room exhibits local life and two rooms exhibit archeological remnants. One spiritual tolerance room was beyond our understanding. Most of the area is under improvement. So maybe the next visit will be more interesting.
