We came to find a geocache and stayed because the buildings were captivating.
The buildings were left over from when the village was abandoned in the 1970's when the pearl fishing industry collapsed due to the oil discovery. They are built from coral and shells and are mesmerising and photogenic.
An amazing place, google info before you go.

Wonderful place. First time I went there solo, I got afraid as I just saw few black men there. But second time, I went with group and entered every old house there. The people told us that there come ghost in the night, so we stayed there in Alhamra village and came back in the night at 1 AM midnight and really enjoyed it as some of our friends were afraid of the sound of birds etc. Now it is in control of Department of archeology and they have started renovation in it.

Firstly we were greeted by a local who wanted to give us his mobile in case we got stuck and he would come and rescue us. We had a jeep so we knew we would be ok but how sweet to do this. We did a little off-roading to get to the village which was incredible to see. houses engulfed with sand and the colours as the sun begun to set were incredible. Do not try this in a normal car you need a 4X4 really as the sand gets deep.

Yes it is a partially deserted village and we will not stop there again. There is a lot of construction in the vicinity so a lot of the buildings appear semi-occupied. Not what we expected.

Despite the website stating this place of historic interest was open, I turned up, after an hour drive from Dubai to find a busy construction site !!
Trucks, creative a car park, the fort itself being renovated and no indication this was taking place !!!!
I cannot see this attraction being open for many many months, so if you are planning a visit, telephone first as the website is unreliable.

There are not much to see here. Just a bunch of old, destroyed stone houses. All around the area massive construction work and building construction are going on. Been there done that.

This really is an abandoned village and nothing more.Interesting if you want to wander round for 20 minutes or so and see how people used to live. You need to watch where you step as there is a lot of junk around. Also there is no guarantee that some of the more crumbly looking buildings are actually safe.

This abandoned village built of Sea stone could be made so much more of,as this is the history of the pearl diving that Ras Al Kamimah was so well known for seems a real missed opportunity

Ghost town and heritage village were closed. Happy they were closed as they looked underwhelming and a waste of time. A raggedy area.
