Saw different camels from different countries in addition to other animals sold for local use. Only negative side is the constant harassing from the guys there trying to hustle you for money to take pictures with the animals.

This is a great place full of local culture. Go early in the morning to avoid the heat. I would not recommend women going alone. Do not let the workers there talk you into going into an animal pin to pet/photograph the animals. They will lock the door and ask for money to get out. You don't need a local escort, just be careful. The care for the animals is not cruel but is different than a westerner may be comfortable with. The surrounding souk is great to explore. Even if you don't get out of the car, you can see amazing things.

Al Ain camel market is a tourist hotspot. Many of them come from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other emirates to see camels. They love to take pictures of them and obtain first-hand information about them.

Can see the pens full of camels including a section where there were young camels. Also areas with goats, etc. These camels are for sale so vendors approach you regularly.

We visited today (Tuesday) at 11.00am. loads of camels, large, small, black, white and in between, plenty of goats and a fair few traders sitting around. On arrival we were quickly adopted by an Afghani man who assumed the role of guide. After 5 minutes or so it became obvious that he hoped for payment but we walked quickly on feigning incomprehension. No pursuit thankfully.
The local animal supply shops were friendly. We learned about bras for camel and related paraphernalia. Also looked round a date processing outlet supplying camel food. Toyed with the idea of getting a hair cut but chickened out.
Short walk to the large Mall nearby and into a different world.
Well worth a visit for an hour or so.

We visited on a Friday, a "non" market day. Its was very quite and only a few people around, but nevertheless still a few camels to see. A few local guys was very keen to show us around for a tip. Pleasent experience.
