Try to be there around noon to hear the trumpet player who plays from the highest balcony. He is 74 years old and climbs the stairs each day to play an old Bukovinian song. He has been doing this for 35 years.

The City Hall is situated by the Tsentraina Square (or Central Square) and it is flanked by many interesting buildings such as the Museum of Arts and what was the former hotel Black Eagle. The town was at one time part of the Austro-Hungary Empire and this shows in the nearby buildings. The City Hall's tower was once used as the fire tower.

This is a nice building to visit, especially just before 12 noon. I wish people would speak in Ukrainian in Ukraine, not Russian!

City Hall building features city flag, where front and reverse sides are different. There is a Tourist Information Centre in a City Hall with free city maps.

Chernivtsi City Hall was built in the first half of XIX century. It became the central part of the market square. If you dare climb 126 steps to the top of the clock tower, you will be awarded with a magnificent view of the market square and Chernivtsi in general.

At Central Square 10 in Chernivtsi (near the town-hall) you can find an elegant building of an art museum, which was built 1901 as an Austrian savings bank in beautiful modern style. on the ground floor of this museum you can find a grteat place for tourists, which includes: Literature cafe, souvenir shop, book store and Chernivtsi excursion office with free tourist information service and a reach selection of guide services, car rental, etc. Very helpful! I do recommend.
