If you go to Chernivitsi you have to take a stroll down Olga Kolbaysta Street. This street, in the older district has been cordoned off to vehicular traffic and is filled with little shops, restaurants and residences. You will find the ever popular Kwinto and Wiener Cafe restaurants here. It is paved with the black cobble stones that are found in the cities and towns throughout Western Ukraine. The architecture, though maybe not as spectacular as in Lviv’s Old Town is still interesting and attractive.

There was a young girl in period costume selling flowers on the street, a nice touch. Flowers seem to be a reoccurring theme in Ukrainian culture and are found in many places. We received flowers for our room at the house we were staying at and in the cemeteries the majority of graves have either artificial or fresh flowers. They are also a favoured hostess gift.

So if you find yourself in Chernivitsi, take a walk down Olga Kolbaysta Street, pick up some souvenirs in one of the shops, stop for a bite and some scrumptious dessert and coffee in one of the many cafes that line the street. You won’t be disappointed.

Last summer I with my friends was in this wonderful city. Of course, we can't walked past by this street. This street is really like for me. It is beautiful and comfortable street. There are many cafes, restaurants, benches and decorative trees. There is impressive sculpture in the form of a chariot in the center, which I photographed on the photo. And when I remember Chernivtsi I always remember this street.

Definitely a must. I'd say that only the Cernăuți Univesity is a more important landmark of the city than the Olha Kobylyahska Street.
You'll take a walk thorough a part of the city that still breathes the old Austrian air of the Bukovinian Duchy. Interesting, well preserved, buildings, with some classy shops.
The clash between the Austrian past and the Ukrainian present are also very visible here as well, and you'll notice it while looking at the other shops that crowd this street.
All in all, a very interesting experience, a good place to get quality chocolate and coffee, but also a "genuine" bucket of deep fried chicken. A place of contrasts.

This was Herrengasse in the old time. Stories said it was the most elegant street in Habsburg and Romanian period. The name of the city engraved on black marble in all relevant languages, including Jewish (Ye dish) along the street. One can admire the rich ornaments and style of the houses, the atmosphere, the nice shops. From stories it was the place to see and being seen in old Czernowitz which is in process of rehabilitating its atmosphere.

Very gorgeous street in this charming city. I guess this street may be the most beautiful promenade in Ukraine. There is special spirit in the city and particularly on Kobylyanskaya Street

Very beautiful street with old buildings that undergone reconstruction, so they look very nice. A number of cafes, pubs and restaurants to everyone's taste. A nice cinema, but I would say prices for tickets are a bit too high for Chernivtsy.
