My mother and I had the best trip of our lives thanks to Kabira Safaris and our guide Arshley Brian. Our guide arrived promptly on time with a warm welcoming smile that remained with us for the duration of our journey. Arshley is the most knowledgeable guide I’ve encountered amongst my numerous African safari experiences. His broad knowledge of the Ugandan wildlife with an unmatchable expertise of birds and trees enhanced our experience and appreciation for the beauty Uganda has to offer. His vast awareness of wildlife along with his dynamic personality kept us entertained and engaged while traveling between national parks and forests. Arshley has an exceptionally trained eye and was able to spot a leopard in a tree that most would need binoculars to see. He continually exposed us to many new species beyond what I expected to encounter. While getting to know Arshley, I learned of his many accolades in guiding, birding, and forestry. He is the reason our experience was both educational and enjoyable. Arshley is so easy to talk to that by day two he was not just our guide, but also a close friend. He is fun and happy and this made our experience extra special. He was continuously concerned about our comfort level and general well-being as was Sharon, our program planner from Kabira, who would often check-in to ensure we were having the best possible trip.
When deciding on our specific itinerary, Sharon always responded promptly and supportively. I had many questions and concerns as one does when planning an expensive overseas excursion. Sharon helped put me at ease by thoroughly walking me through each step of the process. She even took a midnight phone call from me when I needed last minute assistance with the payment process. It was such a wonderful surprise when she took the time to meet us on our final evening and presented us with a thank you gift.
Our favorite day was the Gorilla Habituation Experience where we spent four hours with a magnificent mountain gorilla family. Although the cost of the permit was quite pricey, it was well worth it to encounter these creatures so up close and personal. I have fallen in love with the country, its peoples, and all the land has to offer. When I come back, there’s no question that I will be using Kabira again.

I did the one day trekking tour from Kigali to go see the mountain gorillas in the volcanoes national park. I had an amazing experience, the gorillas were so closed (less than 2 meters), a small family, playful. It was beautiful to see them in their natural environment.
The Kabira agency provided me an excellent service, the booking was simple and efficient with a quick turnaround from Sharon (who is the responsible) to attend all my questions. The driver picked me up on time at my hotel, the drive was smooth, safe driver. The day was awesome. After the trek, the driver brought me to a very nice lodge were I had a 3 courses tasty lunch, and they even arranged for me to take a shower and they cleaned my hiking boots (all for 30 USD). I was brought back at the airport on time to make my evening flight. I will use again Kabira safaris tours for my upcoming trips in this part of the world.

We did our Tanzanian Safari trip through Kabira and their local tour partners. Sharon from Kabira tours helped us plan our trip in the last minute, she was very patience with our specific requirements and program amendments and made it all fit to our planned budget. Also, She was flexible coordinating with late evenings to match our timezone and convenience.
We booked the tour for 5days, each day was an amazing experience and our 9yr old enjoyed it well. Our safari guide Joseph, was very informative, experienced and easy to communicate with. The beautiful Tanzanian sunrise and sunsets, and a close observation of the Big 5 and many more, interactions with Masaii tribes, lodge stays in the wild are definitely the most memorable take backs from this trip.
All thanks to Sharon and Joseph to make it happen.

I had the most unique experience thanks to Akabira Safaris. Everything was very well organized, the staff was very responsive by email and the trekking team (including the trackers and porters) were all extremely dedicated and put a lot of effort to make our meeting with the gorillas the best we could imagine. The driver Frederic was also very professional and a very good company for the long ride there and back. I highly recommend anyone willing to do a gorilla trek in Rwanda to pick Kabira Safaris.

Kabira safaris is amazing! Sharon was extremely helpful, kind, and welcoming from our initial contact to start planning and throughout our trip. We did an 11 day bespoke tour, all of which Sharon organized based in our interests. Both of our guides, Joe and Herman, were incredible. We had the most amazing special time in Tanzania and Uganda and we highly highly recommend traveling with Kabira!
We also loved all of our accommodations and day tours Kabira arrange for us. All the lodges were beautiful with delicious food.
We even had a delay in our flights and Kabira was able to accommodate the change.
Also to note- we were traveling as a group of 3 women and felt safe and welcomed everywhere we went.
We will send more pictures soon!

I booked a 3 day Gorilla trek with a night at Bunyonyi then added on a 4th day 24 hrs before I wanted to leave. Not only did they accommodate me but created an unforgettable experience, adding a chimpanzee trek and a boat ride in Queen Elizabeth National park, allowing me to see elephants, hippos, Cape buffalo AND tree lions. My guide/driver Isaac was wonderful. I can't say enough good things about the attentiveness of the staff and the agenda. I will not hesitate to use them again.

Our gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda proved to be the pinnacle of our trip, even after an incredible week in the Maasai Mara. Jacqueline deserves special recognition for making the booking process seamless and expertly guiding us through the permit acquisition process.
From the moment we landed in Kigali, we were in excellent hands. Julie welcomed us at the airport, where we met our exceptional guide, Samuel. Though the drive to Five Volcanoes was lengthy (about 3 hours), Samuel's engaging company made the journey fly by. His warm personality transformed what could have been a routine transfer into a delightful start to our adventure, and we felt like we were traveling with a friend rather than a guide.
Samuel's professionalism shone throughout our stay. His punctuality was impeccable, and he thoughtfully considered our hiking capabilities when coordinating with the trekking guides and trackers. The gorilla encounter itself exceeded all expectations and justified every penny invested. When we expressed interest in exploring the local area, Samuel enthusiastically accommodated our request, treating us to an impromptu visit to the nearby town and Lake Ruhondu.
As our three-day visit drew to a close, we found ourselves reluctant to leave. Samuel's maturity, deep knowledge, and vast experience make him an invaluable asset to Kabira Safaris and Tours, and we couldn't have asked for a better guide. Thank you, Samuel!

Booking with Kabira was the right move for our trip of a lifetime! Sharon was able to make the booking process seamless and was quick to answer any questions or concerns.
Then, we had the privilege of exploring Rwanda with Pacifique as our guide. His professionalism, deep knowledge, and genuine care made the experience feel like being with family. He went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, from sharing insights about Rwanda's rich culture and history to creating a welcoming and comfortable environment throughout the journey, to pulling over so I could get the best photo opps!
The views as we drove across the country were breathtaking, the food we ate was exceptional, and our accommodations made us feel like royalty. Then there was the exhilarating joy of seeing the chimpanzees, gorillas, and golden monkeys in the wild! No doubt we will cherish this trip for a lifetime!
I cannot recommend Kabira and Pacifique enough for anyone looking for an exceptional and personal experience in Rwanda. Many thanks and gratitude 💖

Excellent agency for tours in Africa, everything went as planned, Sharon, the agent who planned my itinerary, was clear and very helpful during the reservation process.
The lodges were very good, especially the one in Biwindi (Bweza Gorilla Lodge) which was magnificent with excellent service, food and a very good location.
But best of all, Jeff was the guide and driver of the Jeep in which we did the tour of 🇺🇬 Uganda, knowledgeable about his country and concerned and attentive that I had a good time, thank you very much Jeff and Sharon as they made my Safari an unforgettable trip.

Which Gorilla Specie is in Uganda?
Gorillas are predominantly herbivorous apes that are ground dwelling inhabiting the forests of central sub-saharan Africa. The world has one genus of Gorilla which is divided into two species.
These are the eastern and western gorillas.
The Eastern and Western gorillas are further divided into the Mountain and Lowland Gorillas.
The Mountain Gorillas live in the Albertine Rift montane forests of the Virunga Volcanoes and Bwindi Forest. Uganda hosts the Mountain Gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei) a sub specie of the Eastern gorillas.
These are the largest living primates sharing about 95-99% DNA with humans coming the third closest to humans after Bonobos and Chimpanzees. Up to date gorillas live in their natural habitats with several unsuccessful attempts of keeping them in zoos.
