This holiday was my first in Turkey. Friends had told me what to look out for and trips worth doing. I spent the first 3 evenings of the holidays looking at Excersions and trips to get a rough price idea. Late on Saturday night, I dropped them a message asking about Jeep Safari for the morning after and a lazy day boat trip for the Monday. Within 10 minutes, the man arrived at our hotel and dropped with tickets off. Fair play to him for doing this late at night. £50 for 2 people on Jeep Safari and all inclusive boat trip, heard people paying much more even with a group discount. Jeep Safari: Picked up promptly at the hotel by driver. Stopped at 3 other hotels then went to the meeting point. As a huge convoy we all headed off music blaring, great fun atmosphere! Quality of jeeps vary, some newer ones in better condition but the older ones aren’t bad. Its an old school Defender that’s seen some use, the roads are too rough and you don’t get thrown around. It does the job, you can’t expect 5 start NCAP vehicle safety ratings, be realistic! Got to the first stop, paid 20 lira each for water guns and went on a very, very fun drive along a flat bendy track, fighting with the other Jeeps. Amazing fun and just that bit alone is worth the money. (Seen reviews complaining about having to pay for the water guns, come on, it’s only £2 a person!). Take spare clothes as you get drenched. Then off to the waterfalls. Good 45 minutes here. Can get busy but most people I saw didn’t bother going in the pools. Can’t remember how many pools but around 5ish and a big 20 foot waterfall which if you’re brave enough you can jump into, although a little sketchy, good fun for adrenaline seekers! Seen people moaning about unsafe steps and dodgy fencing. I can agree there’s some bad steps but on the whole it’s safe. If it bothers you, stay away from the edge... simple! I’d recommend taking water/sea shoes and it made walking in and out of the pools easier as it’s like a stony river bed. Only gripe is that I wish we had longer here! Lunch was at like an old farm place, really local feel and away from the big tourist places. Food was good, I’m very fussy but no complaints from me. Had to pay for drinks but again it’s cheap as chips! Not much happening at Jesus Beach other than a swim in the sea with stunning views of the mountains around. Feels weird to walk out so far into the sea at knee deep water with drops either side where you can’t see the bottom. Seen someone complaining about jesus beach being too rough underfoot but it’s an old pebble beach, what did you expect? Sand like flour? Stick your water shoes back on and enjoy the walk! Then dropped back off at hotel. Overall really good fun for the price and would pay a lot of money for something like that back home! Boat Trip: Picked up from hotel slightly later than planned but nothing to cry about. Everyone has masks on in the bus but some people who were last to get on did complain a lot about being crammed in and not enough seats. I think the last seat was a big make shift and ideally would have been better to have less people on the bus. This was the same on the way back and it was very hot in there. Everyone was dripping in sweat after 10 minutes but it’s bearable for the 5/10 lift back to the hotel. Boat was nice, no complaints about this. It did the job that it was meant to do. More than enough room on the decks so social distancing was no at issue at all. It was really pleasant on the top decks actually. Food again good for what it was. Simple and edible which is all you can ask for, not Michelin star but better than your typical town centre kebab shop on a Friday night. First stop was in a bay across from Marmaris which was fine. Second was at the phosphorus caves. Thought this would be more that in was as it’s literally just a look at a cave and then you move on. Smaller boats could probably get close and have a good look inside. Stop off for lunch and a quick swim then over to Turnuc for shopping. Nice little town with good shops, best on Monday which is market day. Back to Marmaris for around 4pm. Not many complaints from me if you can call them that. For the price, excellent for what it is. I think some people are being overly critical and expecting the world for next to nothing cost wise. Yes there will be more expensive and probably nicer jeeps/food/boats but save yourself some cash. From what I saw, everyone ends up in the same places at roughly the same time so why pay much more for the same experience. There will probably be cheaper out there as well but obviously quality could get worse. Very happy with my two trips, if I had more time to do other trips I would use these guys again! Don’t know the name of the man I talked to to arrange but he was friendly and check in on how the trips went. 4 stars as there is always room for improvement but I’m more than satisfied and I’m usually very picky and critical. Thank you Marmaris Trips for two memorable days out!
