Worth a visit if you are history lover and the statue is just amazing, you cant not come to Marmaris and not visit Sir Mustafa Kemal Atatuk!

The statue is located more or less in the centre of town and is clearly well cherished and respected by the locals. In a modern tourist resort like Marmaris, it's always nice to see a bit of history / culture.

He looks like Lenin on a cold day and one things for sure he wouldn't be wearing those heavy clothes on the day we looked at the monument ..... it was 35 degrees this is a very nice and certainly worth stopping to read the details of this famous man who founded Turkey

we took lots of photographs around the statue with all the boats in the background. its right at the final stop of the dolmus.

This is the founding father and his statues are all over Turkey to commemorate him he made a lot of changes to rules for the modern woman in Turkey at the time - you can walk close to it but sadly due to tourists disrespecting it this is now surrounded but you can still get photo opportunity - you can... Ataturk is the founding father of modern Turkey. This is a statue to commemorate him and is very nice. It only takes a minute or two but stop and look.

Thus is a statue slap in the middle of Marmaris harbour, so makes a good meeting point. You can no longer get close to the statue as there has been a fence erected round it due to a few unfortunate incidents of tourists disrespecting the Turkish heritage....something they do not take lightly. We went there twice in a week theres loads to see from boats to history,it's also nice to go shopping or just chill and take in the sites, well worth a visit
