About
Sandwiched between the dramatic ridges of Mount Babadag, Butterfly Valley is a perfect spot for trekking, with lush vegetation, awe-inspiring views, stunning sunsets, and of course, an endless variety of butterfly species. To escape the crowds visit in the morning or evening. You can even stay the night—the valley has a free camping site, and there are glamping facilities and a bar on the beach. The hike down to the beach can be challenging for some. Consider visiting as part a boat tour or chartering a boat taxi from Oludeniz. – Tripadvisor

    butterfly Valley
The history of Butterfly Valley dates back to the 4th century BC. Some Ruins of the Lycian Settlement Named "Perdicia" Are Located Just Above the Butterfly Valley Canyon. The village here is called "Fethiye". The current name of the neighborhood is "Faralya". The gardening culture created by terracing the slopes, which continued from the Byzantine and Greek Civilizations until the late Ottoman times, has survived to this day. Collector Photographer Rıfat Kılar was impressed by the Butterflies in the Valley in the late 70's and said that this place should be called "Butterfly Valley" and pronounced the name of the sheep known as "Gudumsı" in a different way for the first time. His friend H. Deniz Bayramoğlu used this name in 1987 and started the business that gave birth to "Butterfly Valley". The aim was to lay the foundations of a life model in harmony with nature and share it with the whole world. A group of nature lovers, including musicians Nezih Topuzlu and H. Deniz Bayramoğlu, undertook the mission of protecting the valley. They were not late in attracting the necessary attention with an intense campaign. Considering that the construction bans in the region are insufficient for sustainable conservation, they tried to create a center that brings together different ideas and activities compatible with nature, which they call Active Conservation. It is not possible to stay in Butterfly Valley, which is shown as one of the best addresses of camping and nature tourism in Turkey and in the world, without the knowledge of the business that serves between 1 March and 1 November every year, it is provided by the business. For this reason, electricity is supplied to Butterfly Valley 3 times a day. Hot Water is Provided through Solar Panels. In addition to staying in tents, bungalows or terraces built on the beach or dirt ground, the establishment offers visitors a natural and ecological open buffet breakfast and dinner, and public toilets and showers. Due to the Isolated Structure of the Valley, the Business Has Made All Necessary Arrangements to Meet the Needs of Visitors and is Responsible for the Safety of the Guests. In Butterfly Valley, which is also remarkable in terms of its activities, lectures and seminars are held throughout the season with many instructors and experts. The project called "Butterfly School Project" aims to awaken environmental awareness by increasing awareness of nature through artistic, mental and physical disciplines, and to convey the motto of life in harmony with nature to the masses by improving the understanding of entertainment and recreation. Among the free workshops organized until this year, there are artistic activities and workshops, maritime, fishing, kitchen, agriculture, handicraft courses and personal development, yoga, meditation, mysticism, natural philosophy (ancient wisdom tutorials) and so on.

Great place, beautiful, bring hiking shoes. On the beach there is food and beverage available. There is also a camping area with tents and Yurts to stay in if you like to be next to nature. We plan to stay some day down the road. Waterall was not as it should be due to lack of water (rain). Still a nice hike. There was a bar area playing good music.

We missed the coke. Esim rus is already dead. Beautiful as sea water. No butterflies 😜 I’d love to catch a photographer up that hill, but if you’re on the water, that’s impossible. The only thing I was worried about when I came here was the bad news. The man who hit that valley. They can get even that mystical dogma into negative energy. Be my soul ⁇

    Nice, but not amazing
Butterfly valley was very beautiful approaching from the water. The beach is nice with incredible views. The nature walk was nice, the “waterfall” disappointing. A bit dangerous getting to the top, but the views were amazing. I wouldn’t go again but was glad o got to experience it. No butterflies in sight.

    little disappointing but fantastic views
we got the bus from fethiye to the valley, and on arrival was a little disappointed! the views from the top was fantastic however felt something was missing. buses come at various times and the wait can be long so opted for a taxi back to the town after staying there less than an hour. the views was fantastic and that was the best bit. I guess atleast we can say we have been there and done it. the experience may have been completely different if we did it by boat and was at the bottom of the valley.

I set off from Ölüdeniz and arrived at Butterfly Valley by boat tour. In fact, it is a very beautiful place in terms of harmony of nature and sea, green and blue. You can reach this valley by driving your car to a certain point without taking a boat tour, and then walk for about an hour, but I have no idea since I haven't tried it. We reached the valley by boat tour. It was very crowded. Because there were dozens of people who came with different boat tours. The sea was wavy when I went. But the nature in the background is truly magnificent. In conclusion, if you ask whether it is worth going, yes, I think it is one of the most beautiful places on the island tour and a must-see in Fethiye. The only reason I'm deducting a point is because it's too crowded.

This place is such a beautiful spot, during the morning and evening it’s a peaceful place to relax, read a book, enjoy good food and of course swim in the ocean with it being only 2 minutes walk away. We stayed in a glamping tent for 2 people, and it was worth the extra money. The food that was catered for everyone (had to pay extra) was so incredible, both dinner and breakfast, so many options and really yummy Turkish food!

Unfortunately I was let down by a few things though. The Instagram and website for this place advertised incredible “community feel” with events every night but this was not the case. We asked to join “free yoga everyday” and the yoga instructor was away. We asked to join the “everyday kayak excursion” but the kayak instructor was away. We went to the rock bar for “evening family drinks” and the bartender was drunker than everyone and didn’t even offer us a drink (when he did, the only option was warm beer).

Although the staff met us on arrival and showed us to our tent, they didn’t offer wifi, or any information on the campsite other than toilets. They said to join the WhatsApp group which had no info in it and no one responded too if we asked questions. They didn’t seem to own the brand that they’re portraying online and on social media which is a shame for someone who travelled so far to see this place and be involved in the “community feel”.

On top of this, every day at 11am and 3pm there are hundreds of very loud and obnoxious party boats that arrive at the bay and play loud music, and are full of disrespectful tourists which is a shame. I understand this is probably not Butterfly’s Valleys choosing, but very sad!

I would still come again as it’s a beautiful place but a few small improvements would make it a very special place.

Nice half day trip from Oludeniz. We took the 10:30 taxi boat for 70TL per person, and skipped the more expensive huge double decker tour boats blasting music and limiting the visit of their riders to about an hour. The blue tent for the taxi boat was tricky to find on the beach, it's to the left of where the big boats park (facing the ocean). Butterfly Valley is a nice short hike through a semi tropical desert canyon, though we saw no butterflies when we went in August. There is some running water at the back of the canyon. The water at the beach is fairly polluted with what looked to us to be bacteria, sunscreen, and boat fuel. There are just too many people and big boats visiting such a small inlet for it to remain clean, and we were careful not to drink the water. In the water you will be standing on flat slippery rock with waves pushing you around. Once the big tour boats departed around lunch time, the water quality improved a little and the beach was relatively quiet and a nice place to spend a few hours. The few restaurants looked deserted, and there was one snack bar and also a regular bar. We would not pay more than the price of the taxi boat to come here, or we would spend the night in one of the tents for rent to see the place in the late evening or early morning.

We came here because it was popular and we regret it. I do not recommend this place to those who will arrive by the sea. We could not find a spot to relax on the beach. Tour boats park on one half of the beach and make it almost impossible to swim. The water on the other half was dirty and we took care not to put our heads in the water while swimming. The cooperative boat costs 50 TL. If you say let's enter the valley to see some butterflies, the entrance to the path is 8 TL and god knows how long you have to walk to see any. If I come again, I will reach the valley by land and watch the view from above. I do not recommend this place to those who want to put up a tent and live a bohemian life.

...also other beaches within reach and more accessible. You can only get to this by boat or hiking, and that is a long way down and up again. allocate sufficient time. There were people and boats there off season, I can't even imagine how it is during peak season.
Again, there are other alternatives if you look for quiet places.

We stayed overnight in September 2023 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is a wonderful place, but the business service is very poor. It definitely doesn't deserve that much money. The sheets had been changed but the room was very dusty and full of flies. We couldn't sleep because of the flies until the morning. Last time, my wife said, "I killed the 22nd fly." I wish the room had been cleaned, disinfected, and precautions taken against flies before it was given to us. The food was very good, but the bungalow we rented for comfort was terrible in terms of cleanliness and comfort. It was a bad experience for us.

Went to Butterfly Valley as part of a 6 Island boat trip. Unfortunately it was nowhere near as good as it looks in the pictures. In fact I wasn’t sure we had visited it as one of the islands as I was looking forward to it the most but my wife said we had visited it first so just goes to show what good photos can do. It didn’t help that there were so many loud boat tours that it was vastly overpopulated. However, even had I been able not to my own, I would have been disappointed.

My sister and I were meant to spend 2 nights in the valley but ended up there for 2 weeks. Though extremely hot the experience was unbelievable from watching counting the shooting stars at night to the beautiful silent sunsets. We met new lifelong friends, drank till late of night and listened to great tunes at the rockbar. Already have booked my next trip back to turkey and will stay at the valley for a month. Love this place!

We visited on our boat trip, so just a short stop. You can go on a Nature Trail for a small fee, suitable for families. Just take the sun screen and plenty of water. Really lovely and scenic.

This place is clearly overrated. We visited it in November, so it was the end of the season, and it was packed with people. I wouldn't even try to imagine what is going on here in the summer. The place itself is beautiful, but there are less crowded bays and beaches along the coast. I enjoyed Kabak and Paradise beach much more.
