    Amazing bustling market.
We visited on a Tuesday which is the main market day. The main attraction is the food market. We were blown away by the amount of choice on offer, it had everything you could think of and more. The fruit and vegetables were so fresh, we bought our lunch there that day. The front part of the market was the food. behind were clothes and anything else you can think of. Be prepared to be accosted at this part of the market by traders and you also need to do some haggling!

    Nice morning out
Went to fethiye market with children under 13 years of age. We got a taxi from our hotel in olu deniz which cost 330 lira. At the start of the market there are lots of fresh produce like fruits, veg, herbs, spices, honey etc. Once you have walked along the stalls selling fresh food you get to the market that sells unofficial branded clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery, sunglasses etc. definitely haggle as the prices the sellers start with can be pretty high! The market is quite large and it’s like a maze, there are so many stalls. Also check your bags once you’ve bought things as I was “sold” 15 pairs of branded socks (12 pack and he chucked in 3 single pairs in another colour) for €10 but when we got back to the hotel and checked the bag he hadn’t given us the 3 single pairs! Lesson learned. Over all it was a good morning out to experience a Turkish market.

Buy your fruit at the market
Fethiye market takes place on Tuesdays. Take the dolmus to Fethiye, cost 67 Lira each way which will drop you outside the market. The first part is produce which I walked past on the way in going to the crafts, clothes and other things. As in a lot of places no prices were shown and haggling is expected. On the way out I bought some fruit, best buy was the cherries, a kilo for 80 lira which works out at £2, a huge bargain in my opinion

A wonderful way to spend a day.
The displays of fruit and vegetables impresses us greatly. The stallholders take obvious pride in their displays which are so photogenic. Whilst we didn't buy anything it was a day well spent. After you are finished in the market follow the river at the side of the market down to the sea. You may be lucky enough to spot several sea turtles which we were very excited to see.

Vet and fruit amazing - the rest is dross
Spent a few hours here this morning My god it was hot There’s awnings and the fruit and veg section is covered but it’s sweltering The fruit and veg section is glorious The quality of the produce and how it is presented puts the UKs consumer culture to shame - seven huge fresh corn on the cobs for 50 lira Why can’t we shop for our food like this in the UK? As if to underpin our fixation with consumerism and our desire to define our status and value via brands the rest of the market is predominantly filled with fake garbage Some nice Turkish towels that was about it

    Worth a visit
For fresh produce it’s an amazing venue. We bought a kilo of fresh chillies for £1.40 which is amazing. If you’re in a self catering apartment on holiday then the Tuesday market is a must. Fruit, veg, cheese and olives are all good value. The rest of the market is the same fake goods with the occasional good craft store. Make sure you have your haggling head on.

    A so so experience.
Our experience was reasonable, we were staying in Sarigerme so this was part of a tour. My wife actually loved the haggling and we came away reasonably happy although some stallholders were quite aggressive in their tactics. Some started at ridiculously high prices, don't get duped, walk away and they'll re negotiate, don't get pressured. Overall the prices were actually higher than in Sarigerme, but was fun but the street food is well over priced and not palatable.

If you enjoy bartering or watching someone barter this is the place for you.
Bargains include plush towels with fake designer logos for £5/8 each, leather belts & handbags, football tops, shirts, shorts& jeans.
A great day out.

Most importantly if you decide to use the market food vendors, before you do anything, ask them for the price list, it should have the government stamp on it.
Failure will end in you being ripped off,
with a pricing error that will not be in your favour.
This Tuesday the stall selling pancakes tried this very thing on us,
When I asked for the price list the overcharge was made known to them and I was refunded.
For a year or more they have wanted tourists but some can not help themselves but try to rip you off. Beware!!!!

Tuesday is the main market day and the Fruit/Veg part of the market is huge with varied fresh produce at low prices and high quality. As for anything else well, 100 stalls all selling fake clothes (better than Asda). The quality is poor and they are not even cheap. Its like a Sauna walking around and the 1 toilet for 300+ stalls was broken and no alternatively offered. Probably worth visiting once as a holiday experience but you wont go again.

The market is primarily a fruit and veg market. The fresh local produce is vibrant and colourful. Prices are cheap compared to the UK. Stallholders try constantly to grab your attention as you wonder past each stall.

We visited on Tuesday expecting to see a wider selection of stalls on the car park of the Stadium (right next to the permanent daily market). There were a few stall holders selling bags, jewellery and cheap clothing, but it was very underwhelming.

I’m originally from turkey and I own a house in fethiye. We go back as often as I can.! Because of covid we haven’t been in the last three years. This was our first trip. Generally I find price’s expensive. Looks like they are geared to scoop their loses from tourists this summer.! Restaurant prices are not much different from the uk. That makes it not such a bargain destination.! Although every restaurant we have been to service and food was good.! We visit Tuesday market every time. There’s excellent selection of goods and all sorts of foods. I have noticed that seller were much more aggressive on their sale tactics and if you enquire and a good and say no to it you get a look of disdain murmuring of some unpleasant Turkish words.! Most sellers failed to recognise that I’m from turkey.! This particular clothes salesman almost picked a fight with me . Reason ? I was looking to buy a bell dancer dress for my grand daughter, we find what we liked in his stall. Him not knowing I’m from turkey wanted £20.00 for a dress for a 3 year old.’ He was trying to convince my daughter it’s a bargain. I said to him in Turkish that I thought it was expensive and we’d look elsewhere.! He was really upset and aggressive.he accused me of because of Turks like me they can’t make any money.! And we should not come back to turkey with many colourful phrases.!! There was a heated exchange of words he hit my hand the whole stuation was getting out of control! All this because we said no thank you .! On this trip I find turkey in general expensive.! Sellers are aggressive and tourists are getting ripped of.! I love turkey , it’s my home country. I wish sellers realise that by doing this tactics they are driving future business away.!I would advise those visiting turkey please do your homework. Work out exchange rates.! And never accept the first price.

Soooooo my first trip to Fethiye market..... the first stall I came across i was pulled towards the table, myself and my daughter had an anklet and a bracelet on each before I could blink! And then I know I was wayyyyy overcharged for tat, made me feel uncomfortable so I just paid and walked on.... I stood my ground more after but it’s just so annoying - you can’t actually casually browse things without being hussled and pressured, on a 36° day in a COVERED!! Market my patience began wearing thin! Some really nice bits available and stalls galore you are spoilt for choice but a lot of cheap terrible replicas - look out for the quality!

Very nice place and good atmosphere however BEWARE!
You need to carefully check fish and shellfish for freshness. Clear eyes e.t.c prawns are imported
People at fishmarket are the same as tshirtpeople so price needs to be haggled down. Fish same size are farmed and cheaper 150tl/kg the rest shouldnt cost more than 250. Waiters will screw u if they can! Check price for cooking and all prices are negotiable. I payed 40tl per kg grilled prawns with sauce.

Fethiye Market was well worth the trip. Gorgeous fresh produce (I got some purple chiles for seeds to plant in my greenhouse) and cheeses and dates and spices for the foodies, and incredible selection of pirated goods for the bargain hunters. Food is priced for the locals, but the handbags and clothing you need to bargain hard. Very clean and pleasantly fragrant. No breeze.

We attempted to buy a handbag at the market, we agreed a price of £30, which is 1227 TL, the guy was all friendly and charming. Then we tried to pay with a post office travel card, he told us several times it had been declined, and to keep trying! At the time we had no signal so couldn’t look up conversation rates, or check the post office app to see if it had gone though. We then walked away with no purchase as we were told it had declined, once we got back to our hotel and back on wifi, the dirty lying scamming tramp had taken 28,500 lira!! ABSOLUTELY VILE people on that market, that’s how every one of them make their money! Iv heard it happens very frequently and even the women are at it, I would advise any tourist to avoid the entire place as none of them deserve a penny when they go around robbing people and clearing out their holiday funds! Avoid and get these gutter rats shut down!

Ripped off by a stall holder selling shorts on our first day in Turkey. My partner loves a market and used his Hays Cash card to buy a couple of belts and then some shorts he liked. He settled of the price for the shorts of £5 each, but when he tried to use his card in a cafe for two drinks it was declined. Got back to the hotel and checked the card app only to find they had taken over £480!!! Nightmare!
