The mosque complex is situated on a hill overlooking the town, so the stairs leading up to the mosque a little steep. For Muslim travellers there are ablution facilities are available onsite. The area in and around mosque was quite busy, and yet it felt so tranquil and peaceful. As you entered through the main door, the vast expanse of the mosque is laid bare to you. The mosque has retained many of its historic features, including its mihrab (niche of the wall that points to Mecca) which was aesthetically pleasing to see.

As soon as you enter the main door, there is a side door along side women's prayer area that leads to a vast courtyard, where the graves of Seljuk Sultans are located. Please note it is canonical shaped dome that you need to bear in mind if you are specifically looking for these graves (I wasn't able to take a photo, but I have attached a screengrab). You can't enter their tomb, as it is protected by doors and glass panels. However, you can peer through the glass to see these graves.

It was an unbelievable experience to visit this historic mosque and the graves of these famous sultans. It fills with you awe and yet for all intents and purposes you are also overtaken a sense of humility.

Beautiful mosque on the top of Alaeddin Tepesi overlooking Konya, quiet and peaceful. There are two tombs of Seljukian Sultans which I could enjoy from outside. The mosque has some remains from the romans especially some columns.
Watch TRT2 program of Ümıt Işın to get more detail knowledge about Alaeddin Mosque. Lovely to enjoy the quietness and offer my pray.

The Allaaddin Mosque was build in the 13th century by sultan Allaaddin. I was interested in visiting it, because I read somewhere that Rumi and his spiritual teacher Shems often prayed here. The mosque, which was undergoing a massive restoration when we were there, is so peaceful and beautiful! I highly recommend it, whether you are a Rumi follower or not.

This mosque is located in a hill of the same name. It used to be the residence of the Turkish Sultans of Rum, ruling most of Asia Minor and, at certain point, trying to conquer Syria too.

The hill is surrounded by a wall, there is some big lonely and covered remain on the way up. And there are some Seldjuk tombs, probably of the sultans.

The mosque is nothing special. It's grey and low. Inside, the collumns are nice, as well as the mihrab.

Very average place! You can visit it or not. I visited it with Alaeddin hills and very dynamic Zafar Street.

This mosque standing on a hill is under restoration, but you can get inside. The inside of the mosque is graceful. There are some travellers walking around and taking pictures: Beware! There comes a fake guide and he askes you to show you around the city of Konya! He is an excellent speaker of English but excellent at asking for a tip as well. Of course I declined his offer of city guiding. He speaks to you if you are walking around the top of the hill.

Stunning mosque. I can't believe someone said this place was average? It's anything but if you appreciate history. Best mosque and complex in Konya.

Yes, you can enter it, but the grand mihrab is not visible as it’s under restoration. The imam here was very kind and demonstrated the use of the Seljuk era safe.
