This may have been the highlight of our 3 weeks in Turkey. The event took place in an ancient caravan stop that was on the Silk Road. The 3 musicians played on authentic instruments. But the dancing Dervishs were absolutely mesmerizing. I can't call it a show or service or performance. It was their way of praying. Memorable.

This was just wonderful. Sit facing the seats for the instrumentalists. Read the flyer before hand to appreciate what they are doing. We waited in the courtyard after and were able to talk with the Suni mevlana. They were very nice and answered our questions.

Wonderful experience and very pleased to have been here. It's great that the show is free. Get there early to secure a good seat as it does get really busy just before it starts. Hugely annoying that many over people were talking, answering their phones and arriving late / leaving early etc.

Plan your visit to Konya on a Saturday to see this authentic sema performance at 7 pm - free in the huge auditorium right across from Hilton Garden Inn. The performance can get somewhat monotonous and boring after a while (especially if you have kids with you), but you can get up and leave any time you want. You can... More

You need to arrive early to select a seat with the best view of the small rug where the leader will be located. There is a small red booklet that is essential to peruse prior to the beginning to recognize all the elements of the ceremony and not just drift along with the visual splendor, unless that's your pleasure. It... More

We planned visiting Konya on a Saturday in order to catch the sema at the Mevlana Cultural Center. I made reservations at the Hilton because it is across the street from the center. It was a little difficult to find the winter starting time on their website. It is at 7 pm sharp in winter months so, don't be late.... More

Went to Konya for the annual celebration and was only there for one night. On this night, the sema was on at the sports and congress stadium which holds 10000 guests. Based on the number of people and size of the venue, it didn't 'feel' like a ceremony and felt more of a 'show'. If you're going to see this,... More
