There was 3 ships in dock plenty of taxis but only 2 sightseeing bus's we had to wait 1 hour to board the bus as they all were full. not prepared for potentially 6000 people. Once on board we received earplugs and language commentary ie english, german etc. There are bus stops throughout the tour and its up to you when you wish the bus to stop for you to get off. I was amazed at how vast Izmir actually is its the 4th largest city in Turkey some of the old town looked a bit shanty town around by Konik this appears to be the place to go shopping. The tour takes about 1.5 hours depending on the traffic. Izmir has a lovely waterfront with then locals all fishing and ferries coming and going all day its got lovely restaurants looking out to sea if you fancy something nice to eat.

This company runs two (possibly more)buses in a one hour circuit of Izmir. Here's what happened... I got on the bus.. put on headphones and found the English commentary. Several people complained about the grubby covers on the headphones. The driver passed back a bag of new disposable covers with a shrug, and said we could take clean ones if we wanted. We did. The bus whizzed along, with the commentary not quite in sync with the passing buildings. The bus didn't stop at any of the hop-off places on the map. Eventually it stopped at the Bazaar, where we were encouraged to get off, and catch the next bus, which would be along in 30 mins. Most of us did. The next bus arrived, and once again, raced along the route with no stops. The commentary on the headphones was dead. Eventually we raced into the Port gate and came to a stop. The driver wordlessly abandoned us to go and have a smoke. I have no idea what we passed... there were no indications of where the hop-off stops were, and the driver shouted at anyone who stood or approached him while driving. Most of the route was through busy downtown traffic, not scenic at all. There were no photostops, needless to say. Waste of money, sadly... and really left me with a bad impression of Izmir.
