Silkroad Moments delivered an amazing experience. Our tour guide knew great English and he was a lot of fun. He was very educated on the area and had lots of helpful information. He added a lot to the experience. There was such a diversity of beautiful places that we were able to enjoy! Every time I thought that was everything we made another incredible stop. We saw so much more than anything I would have imagined including waterfalls, lakes, ancient buildings, and rock formations. Every stop was fantastic and it was very impressive how many there were! I had an amazing time and I would highly recommend to anyone! I would definitely do it again!

This company is the best! I had the best time on my trip I was able to tour Kemaliye and the city of Erzurum and they were both some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. But by far the people were the best part of the trip. The staff members of SilkRoad moments where very friendly and wonderful to talk to. The locals of the city are very loving and welcoming. If you want to experience more of Turkey than just what you see on google then this is the company to work with!

Silk Road Moments was incredible! They understood my culture and expectations and they took the initiative to get to know us and provide a great experience. They took care of every little detail so we only had to relax and soak in every moment. I was nervous about traveling to a foreign country try, but SRM took that worry away with their detailed planning and personal connection. I was never worried about the quality of the tour or my personal safety. SRM prioritizes people and that is evident in how they treated us! I would definitely recommend SRM. They gave me the confidence and peace of mind I needed to step out of my comfort zone, travel to a foreign country, and enjoy every moment!

As a foreigner visiting Turkey for the first time, traveling on your own can be a daunting challenge. With an experienced local by your side, you can trust that you are getting the best experience. Kemaliye may be beautiful to the casual onlooker, but there are many hidden treasures tucked away for the truly curious and the adventurous at heart.

This was one of the best experiences of my life! We spent two weeks traveling around Erzurum and Kemaliye with SRM. Organized, friendly, and knowledgeable. Barak and Sevket were the best. It made my trip so much easier while still getting a full Turkish experience!
I would travel with them again!

We organised a custom tour with Silk Road Moments to visit the North East and South East of Anatolia / Mesopotamia.

The company certainly has expert local knowledge in organising our trip from Kars/ Ani in the North, including driving up Mt Ararat where some Kurdish nomads invited us into their tent for hot tea with cinnamon, where we saw gorgeous Anatolian sheepdogs herding, the Drupinar site where Noah's Ark may have found its resting place (the limestone escarpments or 'walls of heaven' recorded in the Gilgamesh account was very evident). We even special requested a trip to an obscure village Arzep / Village of 8 / Siglaksulu to hunt for sea anchor or drogue stones, thought to possibly have weighed down the Ark.

Our intrepid Kurdish guide, Adern Kocaman (who looks a little like King Cyrus) safely navigated us to all these sites, and was top notch, patient, kind, humorous, attentive to our priorities and sensitive to client expectations. Adern, who also works as a Ararat mountain guide, even spotted a "Babel" inscription on one of the drogue stones I had hopped to locate, with his eagle eye, when we all missed it. There was such a strong sense of his delight in showing us his country and the places where he grew up (Dogubeyazit native) that it was compelling and infectious (in a non pandemic sense).

We went down to Lake Van region, saw the beautiful Adkamar Island and Holy Trinity Church - with Adern explaining the history and politics of this region (often fraught) as well as the carvings, and taking our comments in good stride. The turquoise van soda lake was beautiful - well worth the visit. We also went to Manzikert/Malagzirt, site of the 1071 wars, Nemrut Crater (which still had snow in late May) - and took a magnificent boat tour on the Tigris near the drowned village of Hasankeyf. We drove down to Mardin, saw a 4th century monastery where we had good interactions with some local Assyriac Christians (John), who first brought the gospel to China in the 7th Century and ended up in Diyabakir where we saw the old city walls and the 4 legged mosques.

In between all of this, we were taken to some local restaurants and enjoyed the cuisine (especially the chicken!), mint lemonade, yummy pide and other dishes. The guide made good choices so we had the opportunity to try local food, interact with locals, even sit through Aramaic liturgy (the ancient language Jesus spoke). Silk Road Moments made good choices in terms of accommodation, from then charming old world Katarina Sayeri in Kars (russian), to the more functional hotel in Dogubeyazit which is till developing its tourist infrastructure), to the luxurious Elite World in Van.

I have travelled to other parts of Anatolia, the Western 7 Churches, down to Harran, San Lufa, Antioch, Tarsus but I am very glad I got to see the remains of Ani (city of 1001 Armenian churches - and the oldest mosque in Anatolia apparently), stand on Mt Ararat, personally examine the possible Ark structure, see the drogue stones, and eat ice cream, drink amazing pistachio coffee, overlooking the Mesopotamian plains.

The Silk Road evinces romantic images of travel in a bygone era - something many of us forget with the covid pandemic. This was our first international tour post covid and Silk Road Moments did indeed provide us Silk Road Moments, gazing on ancient plains, edenic rivers, carvanserai, historic battle fields, copper kettle and ancient souks.

With this company, your trip is in safe hands: this agency is efficient, responsive, knowledgeable and works with personable guides who know the lay of the land and the heart of its people and history; this was truly a custom made experience, from generic sites to more specialist ones, they worked hard to help us realise what we hoped to see and experience. Thank you, Mr Zach Miller, and to the wonderful Adern - we had a real blast!

Kemaliye is all about adventure! This was the most fun tour I have ever been on! From the jeep ride on the road by the Euphrates to ziplining over the river, it doesn't get better than this! This was one of the most fun days of my life!!

Our guides Zack and Jennie were just fun to be with. They gave good historical facts along with fun stories to go with it. My favorite part was visiting an old home/museum and dressing up like a Sultan and Sultana. Great day!

The guides Vahit and Şeyma were definitely a joy to be with. They were open to what we wanted to do and when … like eating, type of food, how much time we wanted to stay at different sites, etc. I enjoyed hearing the history of the area. The guides were knowledgeable and patient in answering all the many questions we had! Also, we booked last minute( as in 2 days before), Zach was gracious and so willing to go the extra mile to get us on a tour. The van we traveled in was comfortable and perfect for our group: 6 adults and a 3 yo. Make sure to wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather! Thankfully we were prepared and the experience was great.

The tour guide was full of interesting facts and history. My favorite part was the dancing and singing. Turks love to sign and dance and celebrate their heritage, we got to see this displayed at a local dance show. I would especially recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kars. There was a man at one point dancing with fiery torches balanced from his mouth. 10/10 very cool. Eastern Turkey overall was a stunning place to visit.
