A wonderful place to visit

A wonderful place to visit full of history and traditions. Amazing panorama from the bridge and a place where you can meet locals with traditional clothes and music.

When I was a student I have been studying the history of Mesopotamia (=the place between two rivers in greek). Visiting Dicle river (Tigris river) was really an excellent experience. The bridge is quite impressive, full of beggars and local musicians. However, I have to admit that there is not any extended reference to the history of the bridge construction... More

The bridge is very special and "simpler" than other roman bridges I have visited in Southern Turkey. As usual it is built with concrete, very large and with arches. We were welcomed with local davul zurna street musician and beautiful light in the evening we enjoyed the view.

The On Gözlü bridge is the "Welcome" sign to the city of Diyarbakir. Don't miss to pull over for a moment or two. The Tigris river and the bridge itself are both magnificent. Nice tea place just at the bank of the river.

At the Bridge there are nice Tea Gardens to relax in the shade at the riverbank and watch the bridge and old city walls.

It was exciting to see the famous Tigris River with its ancient bridge. To view the Mesapotamian plains from the bridge, to see some of the most fertile land in the world as well as the first place in History where animals were domesticated and crops planted.was quite exciting

Walking across this ancient bridge, you get a fantastic view of Diyarbakir's forbidding black basalt city walls, in the distance, on the hilltop. You can also see the Tigris River of Biblical fame, on which Diyarbakir stands

No problem about security. You can visit there easily. Somebody at Turkey tells lies about that region but most of them just stories

I stopped here to have a rest; it is really nice place with very historical bridge. Tigers River at that time should be a miracle and this give you an evident how great people of this land were. Some musician were playing irregular music there, it was really annoying. But they build a lot of apartment just above this bridge... More
