If you or your partner suffer from vertigo or have a fear of very early mornings, then this is the best way of viewing all of Cappadocia from an amazing position. From the distance, it appears to be a very long climb but not so....only...More
We visited the base of Uchisar Castle which is the highest point of Cappadocia. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to visit the castle because of the many pigeons who nest there and whose droppings are used as fertiliser. Not sure if one can get closer to...More
A must visit in the region although it's not very charming. It's an easy climb up. Top of the castle offers a great view. Cons: Binoculars on the top were broken. There were loose parts on the safety rails. It seemed to me there was...More

Uchisar and the castle. you may need a couple of hours, however it is a great place to have as a base to explore the whole region. We stayed at Ansia Hotel at the base of the castle, highly recommended and owner speaks English and has also worked as a tour guide so is a wealth of useful information. By the way you can walk through pigeon valley from Uchisar to Goreme, a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
