Two major towering rock dwellings (Kalesi - Castle in Turkish) you must climb in Cappadocia are Uchisar Castle and this one - The Ortahisar.
Both of them are dramatic rock formations towering above their towns (15 min drive is between them) where people in early middle ages made their homes carving the rocks. The scene while driving and approaching them looks surreal.
Ortahisar is more difficult to climb, as the staircases are steeper and there're many sharp and low ceilings turns inside the rock - beware you must be in good physical and mobility condition to do that.
Once up, you'll be rewarded with fantastic views of the surrounding area.
Ortahisar is not included in the Cappadocia Pass, but entry fee is very cheap and worth it.

The city of Ortahisar is nice, it is preferred place for hotel accommodation.
The castle is the landmark, but i also recommend to go to the view point Lavanta Panorama Cappadocia cafe and see for yourself from all perspectives.
Small streets are nice, and photos in the golden hour is a must

Just visit there for a short while from Uchisar. Parked our car at nearby shoplot/ market nearby the square and walking to the fort entrance. Entrance fee is not included in the Museum Pass so if you want to go up, you have to pay for another fee. Since the steps are quite steep and big, we decided not to climb it and just wandering around the area. There is also cafe and souvenir at the bottom of the site.

The Uchisar Castle rises up over the Cappadocia plain and is visible for miles in any direction. Fabulous concentration of buildings and houses built around the soaring castle hill. Great for morning photos!

If you are afraid if heights it is not for you. Great view of Ortahisar town from the top. Amazing where people used to live, eat, sleep and make families in. We are very spoilt when you think about it. Lot of railing and chains to help you climb but im not so sure about the safety aspect. The town its self is very dusty, very quiet
And the roads around it are awful to say the least. Nothing to see except over priced souvenirs.

On the balloon viewing hill, you can see the village with fairy chimney ,big one.it's panoramic view with photo point of the name of the place with big colorful balloons .it's very nice picture. Where the safari jeep tour ends, we headed back to our hotel.

But, there is much more to see and visit in Cappadocia. In each season of the year you will find attractions, if you like heat, visit the city in summer, but if you prefer snowfall, it is advisable to book for the winter season.
