I wish we had discovered Zelve earlier in the day because it is a great place to bring a picnic lunch and explore. For an entrance fee of 10 TL, our up close look at fairy chimneys, caves, and unique ancient dwellings made from rock, we felt peace in a rustic, bucolic setting. The walking areas were well marked and... More

This sight is not the one which is usually included first-hand into day-tours as I understand, that's why it's much less crowded there which is a huge plus! We were told that 45 min would be enough but eventually it took us around 3 hrs to enjoy the vally! Great quietness on a sunny spring day!

it is a little bit difficult to find the locations because of the lack of the road signs and incorrections on the navigation applications. it is a open museum of natural beauties. do not stuck on one place, ahead, explore, walk, hike, and drive.

Zelve valley has three routes and directions are clear. If you follow them, it will be nice walk for you. It takes approximately one and a half hour. Not a difficult trail.

The entry to this open air museum was 10 Lira and our host recommended this museum over the one on Goreme as this hasn't got as many tourists and is very similar (and bigger). While we were there in late December there was only half a dozen other people there and very interesting. Don't miss this place. Easy parking and... More

If you want to see a cave village, it's a must see in Cappadocia! All abandoned cave dwellings, churches and pigeon houses. Not a really popular one but in stead of seeing mostly the houses restored as a hotel or a restaurant, I would prefer to see untouched ones like this.

It is such a beatiful landscape with ancient culture. I suggest visitors to pick a guidance headphone whilst seeing different points of fairy chimneys. Without a tour guidance or recorded information, trip loses its impact on person. Specially suggested on spring and autumn seasons

Zelve was one of our favourite stops on our visit to Cappadocia. Much larger than the Goreme open air museum and much less crowded, you feel more free to explore the caves and valley. New pathways were being laid, making it easier to find your route around, and there are some information plaques to tell you about the history. As... More

Αmazing cave town, honeycombed with dwellings, religious and secular chambers. Here, the Christians and Muslims lived together in perfect harmony, until 1924. Then Christians had to leave the Valley because of the exchange of minorities between Greece and Turkey, and the Muslims were forced to evacuate the Valley in the 50's when life became dangerous due to risk of erosion.

This open air museum is off the beaten track for many tourists visiting Goreme, hence - not too many people visit it. It's easy to get there: you can either walk from Goreme (around 2 hours), or just get there via hourly dolmus. I walked to the museum and on my way back cought a dolmus. Great museum, interesting examples... More
