This was such an incredible place to visit in Cappadocia. The formations of the cave dwellings was spectecular. I spent a long time exploring and was in total awe of the generations that lived here. Theres also come cafeterias there... recommend to try Gozleme... The...More

This open air museum is a gem and well worth a visit. It is much quieter than the one in Goreme and all the better for that. No stand out attractions just a really interesting place.

Spend 2.5 hours there, it’s a loop circuit so it’s good to leave in the end, that way you can walk back to the car easily. There are 3 valleys all worth seeing. Entrance is 15 TL

We visited this place and liked it more than Göreme museum. It is same but no chimneys. Peaceful and not crowded. Take your time and enjoy caves .

This is a great outdoor museum. It shows how people used to live in cave cities. You can see how each cave room is used as bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, religious worship, etc. Be prepared for sunblock, as it can get hot and sunny during the...More

Get a guide, do your research - do more than just take pictures here. It is amazing to see and learn about these churches and see what’s left of the paintings inside. From the “sleeping slumbers” to the dovehouses ... this place is worth the...More

A lovely museum which is well organised. It's about a 20 minute walk from Goreme centre. It cost 30tl for entry and an extra 10tl to see the Dark Church, which I recommend seeing if you can. Overall, lovely museum to see :)

Fascinating place - only deserted in the 1950s you can really see how this was a village. With churches, a mosque and houses and stables it’s super interesting. The views across the museum are beautiful.

10 day itinerary advice (2 Replies)
Hi, We are planning a packed trip (April 23 - May 2) to turkey and looking for some advice. Day 1 & 2 - In Istanbul Day 2 night - take night bus to Antalya or Fethiye or we can fly to either of the place. ** Any advice which is better and easier connected? ** Day 3 to 6 - Lycian Way Hike + camping Day 6 night - night bus from Antalya to Goreme Day 7 - First bus to Zelve Open Air Museum, then walk back through Pasapagi, Cavusin, Red and Rose Valleys. Day 8 - Walk to Pigeon Valley...More

You need to look at flights into both Antalya and Dalaman airports and see which are cheapest. If the latter are cheaper then Fethiye would make an good base for some decent walks at that end of the Lycian Way or you could walk a bit there and then take a bus further along walk some more until eventually you come to Antalya to take the bus up to Cappadocia. This is the (nice)problem with the L.W.,there are great views and exciting things to see all along it's full length. Although it is a...More

4 days in Cappadocia - itinerary review (11 Replies)
Please review the plan below for almost 4 days in Cappadocia. We are landing at Keyseri at 8:30 am, and getting a transfer to Goreme. Day 1: Arrive at hotel, relax, lunch; Goreme Open Air Museum in the afternoon. Do we have time for Pigeon Valley - Uchisar – Love Valley? We will be there in Oct, with sunset around 6:30 pm. Day 2: Balloon ride, then Zelve Open Air Museum, then walk back through Pasapagi, Cavusin, Red and Rose Valleys. Day 3: Rent a car – Ortahisar – Devrent Valley –...More

This seems like a reasonable itinerary. You only need a car for day 3, not more. It takes about 1 hour to walk to Uchisar through Pigeon valley, about 1.5 to 2 hours to walk the White and Honey (Love valleys). If you also want to climb to Uchisar castle, add another hour. It's about 4-5 km walk back to Göreme from the end of Love valley. So if you also want to visit the museum on that day, you should start relatively early. On day 3 you should definitely also go to Soganli, it's in my...More

Cappadocia valleys (1 Replies)
I wanted to do some hikes alone in Love, Rose, Red, Devrent, Pigeon Valleys. Is it safe for a solo woman? I have read about the absence of clear trails and the possibility to get lost. Considering this aspect which valley has the best and easy to follow trails? Is Pasabagi valley free to visit or it makes part of Zelve Open Air Museum and there is an entrance fee there?

Hi. In my opinion this is not a good idea, there are many convoluted trails and you will probably miss the best bits. I took the guided tours booked from Heritage and they worked out very well, I would never have found my way alone. If you didnt want to pay you could always follow a group at a distance? Hope this helps -
