There is a undercurrent of trepidation about visiting Turkey. I myself wasn’t sure about taking the plunge to come. Honestly I still wasn’t sure about going to eastern Turkey... but after my experience here so far I am so grateful I came! It really is a bucket list kind of place. I researched on trip advisor and other travel forums. I came across Turkey Boutique Tours, there were not that many reviews, however the reviews listed were favorable.
I mixed up our dates, and Abdullah was amazing about readjusting our itinerary, we did the sunrise hot air balloon ride, went horse back riding through the valleys(it was my first time on a horse and after a few minutes of adjusting it was a real highlight - skip the atvs that are destroying nature and opt for the horse back riding imo), hiked some valleys(my friend wasn’t feeling well so the hiking was a little limited), went to Turasan a wine maker, we got to take in the valleys from amazing and less crowded vantage points, we even got to experience a cave home of a family still living in them - countless generations later. That to me was a truly unique experience, I think we had some luck and a lot of Ms. Tugba’s personality to thank for that.
On that note- both Abdullah and Tugba (pronounced Tuubah) had incredible dispositions. They speak English and a variety of languages and are extremely knowledgeable about Capadocia and a variety of places in Turkey (giving us great advice about Izmir where we traveled next) They were incredible about accommodating us, be it a complete itinerary rearrangement due to a date mix up on my part, stopping mid way through a day of exploring to just sit on the red river take in the scene and enjoy an Emir and Raki!
I have to add, my friend wasn’t feeling well and the driver and Tugba were incredible in sharing Turkish remedies and going to the pharmacy for medications to help. Truly above and beyond in kindness.
I would highly recommend them as they can custom tailor your experience and you will end up spending much less then what the hotel and store front operations will charge you. Also, they live in the area and seem to know everyone so you get an inside look at life in Cappadocia!
