To see this valley was a really aesthetic pleasure. The Mother Nature made the rocks and shapes. Ancient peoples gave a human touch and today we enjoy the whole vision. I was very, very happy, the privilege to see this was an unexpected gift of...More

The artwork in the churches built into the rocks is impressive. Pay the extra few lira to see the Dark Church. This must have been unknown to vandals, as the artwork is intact.

You get the best idea of the history of Cappadocia and the Greek Christian heritage from walking around this open air museum. Lots of uphill walking so not appropriate if you have mobility problems. A real highlight.

You feel really amazed when you are around Cappadocia. All those volcanic formations, the caves and the churches inside the caves are places that you can not see anywhere else. So the visit to this open-air museum was quite interesting. However I wish the frescoes...More

Such a unique experience, a definite must see if you are in the area. On the downside I thought the extra 10tl charge to get into one of the chapels was unnecessary & the no photos rule in certain areas a bit annoying.

An amazing place to visit but the whole Cappadocia is a constant surprise. This place becomes crowded with tourists but it is a worthwhile place to visit.

The open air museum was the most touristy place I visited while in Cappadocia. It was literally crawling with tour groups, etc. The cave churches were ok (but much smaller than I expected) and some of the paintings inside were nice. I was disappointed to...More

Visited this place a day after visiting Zelve open air museum and I was disappointed. Crowds of tourist, tour buses, just to visit church after church full of mostly destroyed frescoes with turkish names carved over them. The views are fine but not better than...More

No, not in the centre of town but a pleasant walk of about 10 minutes. Wonderful place to walk around and worth paying a little extra to see the Dark Church. A very beautiful place and do not miss it
