I didn't like it because I don't like places that turn turistic and loose their purity. Wherever you walk somebody tries to sell you breakfast or something else.

A quaint little village a little off Bursa city. Worth a trip to get a peek at how ottoman villages looked and feel like. Found the place a little touristy for my liking and the people manning the trinkets shop were a little too pushy but maybe cos it was offseason.

Cumalikizik is one of the nostalgic, historic and authentic villages that entered our radar about a decade ago when a tv series was filmed there. Once domestic tourists started to pour in local women offered their homemade jams, sauces and handmade crafts on a small market place. However now streets are filled with yelling vendors or homeowners offering hospitality in their own homes. İt seemed very commercialized. Sorry cumalikizik, you could not charm me this time

Cumalikizik is about 10km southeast of downtown Bursa. It is a traditional hillside town over 700 years old. Its historic stone houses are in the Turkish style (look for upper-floor balconies projecting over the streets, half-timbering and wooden eaves). The winding streets invite exploration. Cobblestone alleys climb up and down the hillside; some passageways are barely wide enough for a person. The village has been filmed in several Turkish movies. Villagers are friendly, and can help with directions if you get lost. There are numerous shops and stalls where local villagers sell handicrafts, souvenirs, fruits and vegetables from their gardens. Houses in the more prosperous parts of town are whitewashed, or painted pastel colors (blue seems to be a favorite). There are a few restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops for refreshments. The town can be crowded on weekends. Sturdy footwear is recommended, as the footing is uneven, and can be slippery if it rains.
