Hi, Iam there in October and until I read the great reviews I had no desire to get off the ship in turkey due to the reputation of being pestered to buy and all the news lately, so can someone tell me do you get pestered at all, taken to carpet shops ect, Iam used to Florida where there's no hassle , so I will only consider turkey if the guide protects you from the all the harassment , do they? Or do they try it on ?

The traders do try to attract business- they have set areas outside Ephesus, but they aren't aggressive or too pushy. My 11 year old daughter had a very polite haggle for a leather bag (which she really wanted for school) and a very amicable bargain was struck, a win,win. The area around the port has numerous shops, with traders outside, inviting you to browse, but we never felt threatened or uncomfortable.
