Nice and clean in general, tons of shops, often offering the same goods. The vendors really try to lure you in, offering you drinks and more. Aggressive selling but in a polite way compared to other countries. You can leave freely without buying anything, it's part of the "trading game" you see in the middle-east. You can often easily lower the price by 40%

Intimidating, the shop owners sitting outside on the street ready to pounce on youbas soon as you walk by. Expensive fakes no room to haggle a price these days, and all prices are in euros. What's the point in taking Turkish lira with you?
All the shops sell the same stuff, not many places to buy good souvenirs from.

If you have cruised a number of times in many parts of the world, you immediately know you are going to pass through these areas lined with shops hawking knock off goods. Kusadasi is no different except you can't avoid a lot of them as you have to pass through this maze of shops to reach the old town. For me it is never a pleasant experience as they shout and try to intimidate you into entering their shop. No way man, I just keep walking and don't acknowledge them. Ta Ta pal not today!!!

We visited the Kusadasi Bazaar during a one day stopover in the port from a cruise ship on a Tuesday in June. We had decided to explore the port by ourselves and found the Bazaar down a narrow street. Obviously set up for the tourist markets, if you like shopping or are looking for a souvenir of our visit either for yourself or others, you will no doubt find it here.
The shop vendors compete for your attention as you pass through and will try anything to get the visitor into their shop. We politely declined their offers to enter the shops at first but gradually found not making initial eye contact worked the best. Personally, I did not appreciate the sarcastic comments from some of the vendors as we passed by the shops without entering.

From the main area by the port, head to the right, don’t go down the middle. Look for a coffee shop/ area just inside covered part (great coffee btw) and across from that you’ll see a small handbag shop.
Don’t be fooled by the small shop, ask to “see the back”. This is code for “show me the good stuff”.
Ask for one of the twins, they really are brothers and have an excellent selection of products… The whole family seem to be genuinely trying to help you find a great deal.
Tell them Gary from America sent you!

This was a stop on our cruise. Visited home of Virgin Mary’s possibly last known home. Beautiful. Visited Ephassis, amazing. The countryside gorgeous. The bazaar shopping area interesting, however did not buy anything.

Good to spend an hour or so if you’re not going on tour to Ephesus. Decent amount of cafes to stop and people watch. Most of the merchandise is just repeated store after store. Still, on a hot day, good area to stay cool.

We travelled on June 19 and stayed at a lovely hotel 3 miles away. My wife and I with our 8 year old decided we would do some shopping but were met with hostility when we didn't want to look in a shop or pay what was asked when we were looking at clothes and bags. I found most of the shop owners pleasant and happy but we had 3-4 shop owners who made comments about us being British and others who were just plain rude if we didn't want to go into their shops. One of the last run ins i was actually close to bursting into a rage but was concerned for our safety as the shop owner was shouting comments in Turkish to other shop owners when we left. He asked for a 55 euro for a small jacket and i said no thanks i can get them at home for that price then he ranted that we British should not come to Turkey and that i should get back to my hotel and stay there with some venom in his voice. I replied you will not sell much if that is they way you want to be with people but this was not a welcome comment and led to me hurrying my family to a taxi back to our hotel. I am a 42 year old male with a family i consider myself to be polite and work hard for my family so to have this sort of treatment is not something i expected. There seemed to be a trend as there were a few people we spoke to that had the same issue and its a great shame as it has put me off Turkey but i do not want to pay to go on holiday to be harassed and heckled. I would urge the local Police to sort these people out as they are driving tourists away and ultimately only hurting themselves and the decent shop owners.

Do not use a credit card in this shop. I bought 6 items costing €88 from Marco Zanetti's shop on 8th Sept. When I checked my credit card ststement I had been charged twice. Once for £755.15 plus exchange fees and 1 minute later £75.71 plus exchange fees.
He claims I bought 32 items. Denys the 2nd charge. This is ludicrous I would not be able to push a wheelchair and carry 32 men's clothing items. Avoid this shop he is a crook. Otherwise the shops seem ok.
