Travelled to experience some of the rich history of Turkey and it was amazing to see the vast ruins laid out to be explored.

It was strange to see what you could interact with large portions of the old buildings being used to everything being cordoned off in the UK.

Unfortunately, we actually went quite late in the day which meant the main attract was closed however it was beautiful to enjoy the sights during sunset.

What an experience, we had this on our first day of our holiday. We have never been to one before. It cost £23 pounds each for 2 hours. Sauna, salt room, steam room, turkish bath and soap massage, then an oil massage. Fantastic. It was booked via the Thomson/First Choice at our welcome meeting. You cannot get it any cheaper.

Side town centre are placed within an old Roman port. The town has many historic Roman ruins. We first went t here in the mid 1990's when a lot of the ruins were still being excavated. Some 20 years later the ruins are now a lot more visable and you can walk amongst them.
It is a great place to take children and show them how the people of this area lived back in the Roman period. The Roman public toilets are a great place to start and then moving on to the market place.
If you come to Side don't miss a visit to Side Hamam you won't be disapointed

Paid 20 euro for this experience from a tourist agent. Felt like herded cattle at the start. No relaxing whatsoever people shouting in typical pushy Turkish fashion. At the end , during the massage the man (who kept disappearing anyway) went out of the room and came back with an interpreter who had a perfectly memorised speech about me having back problems and I had to pay an extra 200 lire for a massage to fix it. I didn't have that kind of money so they settled on 100 lire for just my back . I am not even sure what extra thing they did to me, he put hot stones on a towel on my back and then disappeared for 10 minutes. The whole thing lasted about another 5 minutes . When I came out I found my friend also had "back problems" . I had already told them I didn't have the money on me so they ordered me to go to my hotel with one of their staff !!! Don't bother it's absolute rubbish !!!!!!!

This was an advertised attraction in lots of the brochures available at the trip agencies around Side, Colakli, etc. It was I think 20 Euros which included Hotel pickup and return. Pickups are standard practice in Turkey for any trips, excursions or attractions that you book through an agency.

The vehicle picked us up from the Hotel on time. We wer a group of 6 with 4 having treatments partaking and 2 who were not.

The Spa which is also a hotel was OK. Clean and very well presented. The 2 of us not having the experience(!) were given seats around the outside pool which was very nice. They had free use of the pool and drinks were provided at a very good price.

In the garden at the rear was the mudbath and showers and a lawn and some domestic ducks.

Very nice.

The 4 who had the massage and bath thoroughly enjoyed them. The problem was that there were extras offered and there was confusion over what was included and what wasn't. The mudbath was an extra 30 Euros and this was made clear and they all enjoyed it. There was however other charges raised which (possibly genuinely) were not ordered and they were unaware they were having extras.

This caused a few problems on checkout when the bill was presented and there were some arguments over what was ordered and what wasn't. All I can say is that if you do do this excursion the just be very careful over what you have paid for, what is extra and HOW MUCH the extra stuff is.

30 EUROS for what wasn't even noticed as an additional service is steep. To be fair if we had argued the point they would have dropped the extra charges. But because of the poor communications some members of the party felt unsure of their position. The manager offered to cancel and indeed did cancel some of the charges.

Once again all I can say is that extras are expensive (IMHO) and because of their and our language shortcomings it's easy for them to mislead. (intentionally?)

The experience up until the very end payment bit had been excellent.

The worse thing about it all came at the very end when we sitting around drinking a coffee. Two of the guys appeared (one guy was an ex-bus driver from Afghanistan I think or similar) ANyway as friendly as these guys were they were not medically qualified. That's for sure.

(nearly finished) Anyway they joined us having donned their white coats and with clipboards with official looking forms and documents. Then without anymore ad began to discuss their perceived 'medical diagnosis' of each of the participants. One of my group was told she had serious kidney problems and lymphatic this and that. She also suffered from hyper something or another. SHe had a list longer than my arm. The others all were suffering from other medical complaints. All bar one who was a very strong man a sportsman who would benefit form their athletic massages.

But guess what? They had a series of treatments available for all of these problems. ALl would require a number of visits - maybe everyday for the rest of the week but fortunately they could fit us all in.

Better still they assured us that our holiday insurance would pay for all of it. They had special forms to give us and we would get every penny back.

Now you and I know that is all OLD TOFFEE. No insurance company will pay a penny to Quacks.

The worst thing was them having medical problems discussed in front of all and sundry. That's wrong.

Whats also wrong is that some people might believe them and possibly get ripped off by them But also believe it and start worrying.

I personally would avoid the place.

But bear in mind what to expect and enjoy it for what it is. At 20 Euros it's good. But dont have any extras that you are not absolutely sure of.

We were a group of 6 women. We always visit a Hamam when we visit Turkey, Morocco etc. This was one of the worst places we have ever visited. Poor English speaking receptionists, no greeting or welcome. Some of us wanted female staff in the Hamam but only young boys were available. They were unprofessional and more interested in private jokes between themselves and the fun they could have. They slapped one of our parties bottom twice. This is totally unacceptable and insulting. We were led to a relaxing area and covered with towels where we were assured we could have female masseurs. Flies were buzzing everywhere and landing on us. We pointed it out to the only English speaking person and he rudely said "What do you expect me to do about it". Have they never heard of fly spray? The hard sell for more treatment and drinks started. The apple juice was a brown undrinkable sludge at 3 euros a glass! When the masseurs appeared they were all male apart from 1 female. All in all a dreadful experience. Please DO NOT waste your time or money here. The place should be closed down.

This must be the worst ham man ( Turkish Bath) I have ever been to, the facility's were disgusting with dirty mould infested, areas not very hygienic at all, organisation is at best was terribl,This is just a typical tourist trap dreadful place, and should be avoided at any cost, you also get the usual " the massarge therapist reccomends a further hour treatment" at an extra cost of course, (another con) the massarge was completely unprofessional as at no time was I asked about any conditions weak points I might have, the massarge itself was extremely unorthadox and poor, and at one time with out warning she tried to bend my leg at right angles to which I screamed in pain and horror, this could have seriously damaged my kneecap, but was just passed of lightly. I use spas and massarge facility's considerably whenever i am away for a relaxing break, and the was the biggest rip of ever, the massarge girl should be dismissed and the place closed down, WARNING::DON'T GO HERE, this place need a government healt warning. And that's being polite....

Too expensive for a massage which was just ok. The hot stones were too hot and it was painful...I would not recommend this.
